Man, I thought that only happened at my Wal-Mart. I saw a Recondo repacked and an Airborne...both covered with rust.
Amazing, huh? |

The Target near me gets hit like this a lot!
One day there were three employees working in the toy section, and I showed all of them. The guy (or gal) hitting this store removes the bubble from the card, and throws a figure in there with no weapons, no stand, nothing. And usually, it's one of those Walmart rip off GI JOE figures. I should have taken pics. Who ever was working returns should have been fired for taking these back. I mean, it was the most obvious hack job in the world! So, the three employees said they would take care of it (I brought all the figures over to them). So I leave. Look at DVD's. I decide to go back. Guess what's back on the shelf? The GI JOES. Yup. They took care of it all right. They put them right back on the shelf! So, I brought them to the front of the store. I asked for a manager. Showed her the figures, and she noted right away that she could tell the figure did not match the drawing and that the package was obviously opened. She said she'd take care of it. Three days later, I go back to Target, and guess what's hanging back on the shelf? It reminds me of the time I caught a shoplifter at Walmart. I had to stay for the police, file a report, they wanted me to go to court - and not one person thanked me. Nothing. I guess I could have avoided those two stories all together and said that stores just don't give a crap. The employees make damn near minimum wage, and have no motivation to fix this issue. Cause if they tried, it will be just like helping Walmart catch a shoplifter. See, in today's retail world, it works like this: why spend all the energy, time, and take time to care, when you will get just as much recognition for putting your thumb up your ass and standing there as a hat rack? I'm done now. Night. :-) Last edited by bryan_f_davis; 05-01-2009 at 12:59 AM.. |

Yeah, there's a WM near me that's had an Ace/WW comic pack with Ace stolen out of it hanging on the peg since at LEAST October. I've brought it to their attention twice, and still it hangs...

What I meant is that if every single thing left on the shelves ended up being a returned repack then maybe the stores would finally realize that there is something wrong with their return policies and that their employees need better training in order to tell what's real from what is fake.
I know when it really boils down to it most employees whom are making minimum wage could care less.

Hey I can assure you that Scoop did not make this repack up...I saw it about 2 weeks ago in a Target...I'm also in Queens NY...when I saw it I thought about the tank and how F'd-up it is that ppl. get away doing this...funny that it's still there...funny thing is that when I first saw this repack... on the same day I went to a Toys R Us nearby and witnessed some guy with his girl opening the new Cobra pack in the aisle and taking Cobra Commander. When he saw me and my fiancee walk to the Joe aisle, he just kept on opening the pack right in front of us. Meanwhile there were 2 Toys R us employees an aisle away just watching the whole thing...never did a thing...pathetic

Also, they have to deal with people trying to rip the store off for hundreds of dollars of merch at a time, not to mention the thousands of different items Target and WM stock that they have to try to keep track of. From our perspective, stealing Joes is a huge deal. From theirs, it's a $7 toy.

I don't think anyone here was really blaming us for doing that, but thanks for sticking up for me anyhow.

Scoop. The thought never crossed my mind.
I get overly upset at this. And it happens up by me (Hollywood area) A LOT! Transformers, Star Wars, GI JOE's-if you think you made a good find, guess what? It's usually a re-pack. I think it's good to alert other Hiss Tankers about this, so they don't end up buying one by mistake, or worse, buy one for their kids by mistake. Thanks for sharing. |
