Its a repack. Hasbro isn't going to mistakenly put a blue Cobra Commander hood and hands onto a Toys R Us exclusive body. Someone wanted the Lady Jaye, bought the pack and replaced the lady Jaye with parts left over, most likely from customs they made.
The majority of the people who do this stuff are experts at making the things look factory sealed in order to get them past the Customer Service people. The other day I saw a Cobra Flint on a sealed card with the weapons missing. On close inspection I realized it was a repack where someone had removed the bubble from the card without damaging the card, art, or lettering but they had reapplied the wrong bubble as there was white lettering on the bubble, with parts of the letters from a Snow Job. There was also a distinct line where they had failed to match up the original bubbles place with the new bubble. I can't believe someone went through so much trouble to steal a couple guns. |

I don't think his original post implies he bought the set through Brian's Toys just that he spoke with someone there for help.
Either way, that the stand and filecard are for Cobra Commander as well should be a pretty strong indication that it's a repack where someone has overdone the elaborate cover-up. I mean, yes China makes mistakes, but they don't go outta their way to make a matching set of screw ups. But hey, you seem pretty well convinced it's an honest mistake by Hasbro's factory depsite everyone [who have nothing to gain] saying otherwise, so hang on to it and let it be a gem of your private collection. Be warned though, should we ever see this set on eBay for some exaggerated BIN, you must be prepared to face the ridicule and stinging jabs of your collecting "peers". The tape used on the vehicles, CPs, and DVD sets are easily opened and released and don't leave residue. I opened my Fang/Claw set to see the figures and resealed them and you'd never tell.

I really need some help guys. I bought this M.a.s.s. device set 2 of 5 and instead of Lady Jaye it has Cobra Commander in a red crimson guard outfit with military bars on it, a sword with a cobra head as a handle, and a blue hood with a red cobra logo on it. If its a repack its a dang good one but hasbro has no listed variant for it and its the only one I can find anywhere. I will put up a pic this afternoon. Is this a rare error, repack or what?
O.k. So here are the pics. If you look, there is a Cobra Leader card and Cobra Commander base plate included. I spoke with a Brian's Toys represenative who also believes it is a Hasbro packaging error, What do you all think??? There is ZERO evidence of tampering. No tape residue, and the figures have even the little clear plastic rubber around the arms and legs. So? The Ultimate find? or Fake? just curious, are you the 10,000 hisstank member? bring it back if you bought it. |

I was out on a toy run with my friend and fellow Hisstank member RedEyes when he came across this Resolute 5-pack repack at one of our local Target stores.
I decided to take the included pics with my cellphone. Sorry about the crappy quality as well as the blue spots that were caused by the back display on my phone. I think the figures included are as follows... 1 - 2004: Night Creeper (version 12) from the Toys R Us exclusive Cobra Strike Team - Urban Division set. (his visor looks as if someone painted it in black because it should be silver.) 2 - 2008: Cobra Commander (version 35) from the Pyramid Of Darkness DVD pack. (someone swaped his hooded head with one from the single carded Cobra Commander that came with the pink element vial.) 3 - 2005: Major Bludd (version 6) which was a DTC online exclusive. 4 - I can't figure this one out but it appears to be made from some 2004 B.A.T. parts. I originally thought that it was included in an online B.A.T. army builder pack. 5 - 2004: Alley Viper (version 12) from the Toys R Us exclusive Cobra Strike Team - Urban Division set. It amazes me why people would repack things using exclusive figures, let alone replace army builders with other army builders. If you know what figure #4 is please let me know. Also if I have made an identification error please correct me.

It's always wrong but there's nothing we can do about it. Once these things leave Hasbro's factories they could care less about what happens to them because the stores like Target have already paid for them in advance.
The stores also have problems identifying these things, and most don't care either way. The funny thing is that I think the only way to fix this problem would be for everyone to bring back a repack so that the shelves become filled with them. After awhile when these things don't sell I'm sure the stores will stop ordering from the toy companies because their product is not selling. Maybe eventually they will figure out what the problem is collectively and fix it with tamper proof packaging from the toy companies as well as better store security from the stores. They would also need to become knowledgeable about the products they are selling.

I'm not quite sure how tamper proof packaging will help. It would add to the cost. (something no one wants to see) A reason these are being repacked is because the cost is too high already. Raising it will only worsen the problem.
Also these items are bought, taken home and returned to the show. As someone who opens his joes an impossible to open package is something I do not want.
