Unfortunately, the people at the returns desk have no idea what should be in the box. That would require product knowledge of every single thing in the store - no one gets trained for that kind of thing in retail. I mean - you're supposed to have product knowledge, but you can't be expected to know the contents of every single box or package, especially at a walmart... just not realistic. This is how these turds take advantage of the situation.

Just once I would like to see the Robin Hood of repackers who repacks two complete Eels inside an old Dreadnoks CP on clearance. LOL. *just joking*
I HATE repackers... HATE them... with every atom of my being. I have a hard time deciding what and what not to buy often passing on certain figures even though it kills me to do so and these repackers keep getting away with stealing Joes. Hasbro needs to enclose everything within sealed plastic immediately. |

The people at Wal-Mart must be stupid for taking the repack as a return or some one working there must be a repacker. Look what I found at the local Wal-Mart, WTF! How could they take this as a return.

How pointless, in addition to the obvious dishonesty. I'd much rather have Flash than Red Star.
I think the people at the stores put them aside and the next employee finds it and thinks it's a return that's supposed to go back on the shelves.

I am 100% against repackers. I believe their actions constitute stealing and that they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. That said, I disagree with these claims that say no real fan would screw over another fan. Sorry but a lot, if not most, adults who buy and "play with" toys like these are only out for themselves. They do not give a damn about you, what you want or what you don't have. This explains why you never see some of the popular troop builders on the shelf for more than a day or two. It also partially explains why we're seeing more repacks on the shelves. As a fan who collects these toys for their nostalgic value, I don't care whether or not you have a particular figure. In fact, I don't think about you or any other collector at all when I'm looking at Joes. That does not mean I am not a GI Joe fan. It just means I don't really give a damn about the toy collecting habits of others. Oh and this whole notion that repackers are basement dwelling, burger king workers who have no girlfriends or what not is bogus. I've seen these same insults tossed at folks who play online games and it just makes my blood boil. As far as I am concerned, whether or not these folks are basement dwellers or work at burger king is irrelevant. The only thing that can or should be said about them is that they are either too cheap or too poor to pay for their plastic crack habit like the rest of us. |

I spoke with the guy at the TRU where I live. He's actually a really cool dude, and a fan of Joes... not a collector, but a fan. He's noticed them before, and told the manager. The lady basically said to put it back on the shelf, and if it gets bought it gets bought... as long as it is an item of equal value.
Now, I don't know how you guys think, but this can make sense for a store. Losing products looks really, really bad. It can cost people their jobs. But, seeing as how they didn't "lose" a product, they can get away with saying- "We never noticed it. I can't tell the difference in these little men" covers their butts, and I highly doubt someone from their regional office would know the difference, either. It's one of those things where resolving the problem is a bigger pain in the ass than the problem itself. Do I agree with this logic? Not really, but I don't expect storekeepers to know the difference. After all, a return is bad enough and then you just have to kiss the customer's ass. Plus, no one pays these people enough to give a damn, anyway. I spoke with the guy, and his thoughts on it were for people to not be afraid to compare one product to its "siblings" if the package looks opened. He told me people have tried this with video games before (to the point where they have made decals to go over the older game they swap in). He told me he would bring it to the attention of the employees in their next meeting. Another solution he thought would help would be assigning people to work in all the sections, and letting them familiarize themselves better with their stock- and that would help customer service as well. But once again, they don't pay them enough. Oh, and he offered me a part-time job. I'm active duty military, and I don't have a lot of time... but I think it would be cool to work in a toy store. |

I really need some help guys. I bought this M.a.s.s. device set 2 of 5 and instead of Lady Jaye it has Cobra Commander in a red crimson guard outfit with military bars on it, a sword with a cobra head as a handle, and a blue hood with a red cobra logo on it. If its a repack its a dang good one but hasbro has no listed variant for it and its the only one I can find anywhere. I will put up a pic this afternoon. Is this a rare error, repack or what?
O.k. So here are the pics. If you look, there is a Cobra Leader card and Cobra Commander base plate included. I spoke with a Brian's Toys represenative who also believes it is a Hasbro packaging error, What do you all think??? There is ZERO evidence of tampering. No tape residue, and the figures have even the little clear plastic rubber around the arms and legs. So? The Ultimate find? or Fake? Last edited by jamesmnm; 04-24-2009 at 05:11 PM.. |
