I love how it's no big deal to steal from a store, but if some one stole from you, would it still be no big deal? Theft is theft, and to be so condoning of it just because you are not the victim is pretty pathetic. As a business owner, I can tell you that no loss is "acceptable". People are assholes so it happens, that does not make it right. The argument that stealing an item and replacing it with something of a lesser value is not theft is BS. By that logic it would be ok if I stole your car as long as I left you a big wheel in it's place. Even little crimes like this contribute to making this a shitty society, and this attitude of self centered apathy makes it all the worse. Try thinking outside you own narrow view of the world once in a while. Not only is theft unfair to the business providing the product, it is unfair to everyone who works to pay for the things they want. To be so arrogant that you believe you deserve to take what you want for free, is disgusting. Show some F-ing integrity.

Does this crap happen with every product or are toy collecters really just this pathetic? It's just sad. "whaaa.. Hasbro wants me to but 2 figures for $10 instead of 1 for $7, but I just want one. Now I have to steal it and it's all their faut." Give me a break.

And there may not be acceptable loss to you, but that concept does exist to large companies like Target and Wal Mart. Again, I don't think anybody is advocating repacking and certainly not theft. But be careful painting with your sanctimonious brush and throwing around words like "pathetic," "self-centered apathy," "narrow," and "arrogant" and questioning peoples' integrity because they voice an opinion that differs from yours. |

the worst part is the stores are just taking this crap back and not even looking to see if the item is opened..
but as it has been said before - they dont care.. they work retail. I worked for target for 4 years and I tell you.. after a while I didnt give a shit any more either - overworked, underpaid, and customers that are idoits or crazed fanatics. its a shame too.. but whatelse can you do but not buy it - hope the store gets stuck with it and they try to send it back - and hopefully hasbro dings them for sending back damaged and not the correct product. The BIGGEST 2 people to blame and hold accountable - the jackoffs that are actually doing it - and hasbro for not having reps in the area checking for the product. When I was an xbox rep if we found ps2 titles in our cases - it was ON.. we would pull the dept manager - make them fix it and document the store for our corp people to call and make a complaint with - hasbro needs to get reps in the store and filing formal complaints with the store managers and corp people of these stores and charging them back for the product that they replace that is like this. Stores and Service desk people would get their heads out of their asses then and maybe start telling customers NO. Customer is never always right - they are almost always WRONG! Stop this way of ass kissing society and tell people to take their crap elsewhere.. money and customers are welcomed scammers and shitheads are not. |

I probably would have been quick to call BS on this story, but a few months ago the fam and I were at Target and as we were walking to the car 3 kids ran out (maybe early 20's) and they had all stolen shoes and some other stuff from Target one of them flew right by me and my daughter and almost bumped into us. Sure enough though Target security was right behind them giving chase. One of them was nabbed right outside the doors, the other one literally was tackled over someones car and wrestled to the ground and the last (the one that flew by us) got out of the parking lot darted across the street through traffic and the store security still didn't letup they chased him all the way to the mall across the street and finally the cops showed up (with target popcorn bags in hand) and took all three away

I don't see how you could get arrested for repacking. The guy paid for the merchandise, then he tried to return goods that didn't belong to the store. They can just refuse the return. He didn't steal anything. And he could just say it was an honest mistake or his kid switched them and he didn't notice or they were already repacked when he bought them and he didn't know it. I don't know. I'm not buying this one, but I wish the fantasy were true.
Last month I bought a Cobra Diver. He was the only one on the pegs and I've never seen one in the store before. Excited about my good fortune, I grabbed him, paid for him and raced home. I quickly opened the package, went to stand him up and realized that he had two left lower legs and feet. I put him back in the package, went right back to the store and approached the customer service counter and in all honesty, my heart was pounding and I was nervous because I didn't know if they would even let me return an opened package and I was afraid that some Joe collector would get behind in line and tell the worker that I had switched out the right lower leg with a left or some nonsense. At any rate, the store took the return without a problem after I explained it to them. My point is not that repackers are making an honest mistake - they're lying cheating bastards - but they could claim to be making a mistake and so there's no way they can arrested for attempting to return a toy.

They were all pretty young and at least by initial appearance didn't look strung out or anything...maybe it was just a prank to see if they could get away with it and it went horribly awry? I just remember the store security guy yelling back to some employees "We got the shoes"

Ya know it could be that the repacker does this alot at this particular target and they began to get suspicious. I agree that re-packing is stealing but I'm not sure how that Target could prove that.
I once bought a butt-load of star wars figures at Wal-Mart and then proceeded to lose the receipt. I started a new job shortly thereafter and wasn't making as much money as I thought that I would and i needed to take the figures back. I knew that Wal-Mart limits the amount of returns you can make in one year (I was already over the limit) but they will usually give you a gift card for any item less than $10.00 withit any limitations. So I took back a single figure every 3 or 4 days to my local Wal-Mart and after about a month I was told rather sternly not to bring anymore back. Looking back I realize how it must have looked to the customer service people. |

i commend and respect what you did,but me personally,i wouldnt have said anything. I look at it as, its not my job to catch these guys so why involve myself. Alot of the times, people involve theirself in situation, intending on helping but they make the situation worst. What if that guy would've flipped or came at you i the parking lot,you never know with some people. I was raised to believe,if a questionable act doesnt affect me or my loved ones,I should mind my own business. But that just me,once again ,great job.
