That's *creative, actually, considering that is probably a much more difficult to find figure than the figure they did the swap for.
*creative == braindead Also, somebody at Walmart went through every one of these Aliens minifigures, and either stole the pulse rifles outright, or did the ol' switcheroo for some Halo assault rifles: ![]() This is another instance where, at some point, the grift is actually more work and/or expense than just buying them like a civilized human being. |

Here's one I had never seen before. The other day I was at WM and looking at the Star Wars toys. I saw one had a damaged blister. So I was like, 'Oh, that's too bad. I'll just buy this one because surely no one else well.' Then I inspected it and I saw the UPC was missing. So someone had pried open the packaging and ripped it off, but left the toy behind.
I'm kind of scratching my head on this one. The obvious motive would be to buy something more expensive but slip the UPC in the machine so you get it at a lower price. And yet - as with most of these examples - it hardly seems worth the effort. There are surely much easier ways to go about it than to stand there in the store breaking into the blister. |

Possibly someone purchased an expensive toy with a generic description like "ACTION FIGURE". They cut out the barcode on the expensive package and then the cheap one. Taped the expensive barcode into place on the cheap toy, and returned it to the store. So they get the expensive toy, at the cheap toy price.
Then while it is bumping around in the restock cart, or being checked out on the shelf, the newly taped on barcode gets knocked off. |
