I mean people always say that ... " How could they not know". But what if they do, what can they even do? the repacker will just say " it was a gift and it came to me like this,.. I KNOW RIGHT?"
or worse yet get all indignant. Its a bad situation to put folks in. Now where they COULD show some judgment and responsibility is by not shoving this shit back out on the shelves, ... they should put one in the L column and take the loss, but no they will keep on keepin on and try to pawn it off on the next unsuspecting customer/ And I don't mean to pick on TRU, but when it comes to selling toys I expect the staff at a toy-specific store to have some awareness, possibly even TRAINING in the product segment which is their sole ware. I expect less information about toys from a store that stocks everything from food to diapers to car accessories. TRU employees' toy ignorance annoys me almost as much as the three separate occasions on which I went to a KFC and was told that they had run out of chicken. What...the...fu... How do you run out of chicken, in the early afternoon, at a place where all you do is sell chicken? What do you plan to do for the next six hours you're going to be open? Gaaaaaaah!

^Yup. While I know that most of my local TRU staff are utterly ignorant of the toys they are selling (I don't just mean Joes, I mean everything - they don't know where or WHAT stuff is even in strictly for-kids toy lines either) I know that some of them have to at least be sharp enough to notice that the figures don't even fit the backing, or that they don't look like ANY of the other figures on the peg when they go to restock the return. There is some culpability in both areas, I think. Some ignorance, some apathy.

Stuff like that use to shock me... until this story...
I was up north, in a hurry and stopped in a Taco bell. There are 3 register running. Between me placing my order, the lady next to me finishing her, but before I paid, their computer system crashed. They asked me to have a seat and they said they would get back to us. A couple more people came in and they took their orders, asked them to sit down and didn't ask anyone to pay. After a slightly long wait they bring up all this food, including a TON of extras of everything each of us ordered and just started handing it ouit for free. they couldn't figure out how to charge with the system down so they just gave everything they were making away and then used up all the remaining ingredients on more of them, then closed up shop. I waited around watching and listening while they falsified their time cards for all day and shut the place down.

I once had a Taco Bell get every item of a twenty-something item order wrong. I had given them a written list, my family is picky (but not picky enough to not eat at Taco Bell.) They either read all of the instructions as opposite of what they were supposed to be, or were f'ing with me for all the special orders.

Reminds me of a guy I knew who'd order Mexi-Melts...without the "pico sauce", so he was more or less ordering a soft taco without the lettuce.

I found a Marvel's beetle package with an older beetle figure inside.
I showed an employee and asked if she noticed the difference. She did not. I explained that someone upgraded their figure. There was another correct package/figure and I had her compare the two. When she understood, she took the figure and told another employee. Didn't get a picture because she was in the aisle when I found it and I showed her right away. Non fan employees have no idea, its not their fault. Last edited by Indiana Joe; 05-23-2016 at 04:08 PM.. |

How do you run out of chicken, in the early afternoon, at a place where all you do is sell chicken? What do you plan to do for the next six hours you're going to be open? Gaaaaaaah! I know my toys and toy lines. But I'm a collector. I took the time to know my shit because I collect. The majority of my fellow employees are teenagers getting paid 8 dollars an hour. They don't care about toys. Its a fucking paycheck. but the folks at the front desk can literally pull up any info about what you're looking for on the computers. You just have to ask nice. But most customers like to take their annoyance out on the teen employees who are told not to argue back. Because that would be bad customer service. Its almost like the uniform shirt is some kind of sign that says its ok to talk down to us.. Ignorance about toys annoys you? Why don't you just buy your shit online than? That way the annoying overworked and underpaid staff can take a break from the grown ass people who come in and berate them for not knowing every single detail about 1 or 2 of HUNDREDS of toy lines containing THOUSANDS of pieces. You know whats really annoying as an employee? When collectors come in and completely tear through the place." Hey FUCK the people who just set the displays up...I want MY shit NOW and I'm gonna pout and whine until I get my way. And if I don't, I'm gonna go online and badmouth the people who can't name every single nerdy bullshit I was looking for!" The managers and supervisors (those wearing polo shirts) can look shit up for you. THEY are the ones who get emails about new stuff, promotions, and whatever. You looking for something specific? Ask them for help. The floor employees (those in TRU t-shirts, usually teens) are there as grunts to lift things, and try their best to keep the place clean while also assisting customers, meanwhile keeping tabs on any kids screaming and running through the store while parents ignore the noise. They are usually the ones bullied by the dickbags who feel the uniform is an excuse to shit on them. Now you know....
