At TRU yesterday I found a MU Northstar (I think that's her name...the one with the head some have used for Baroness customs) that had been opened. Guess what was missing? Yep, the noggin. I handed it to a TRU employee who was passing by. He said it was becoming an issue and blamed it on "toy customizers."
It got me thinking about the toys I've noticed missing stuff over the years. Looking back, some (maybe all) were obviously repacks done by someone hunting for parts. Like the Baron Zemo I saw last year who was missing his belt and boot cuffs. Or the Grim Reaper I spied recently with white Punisher boots. There was also a webgear-less Cobra trooper in a 50th Viper's pit set that I assumed was a QC issue at the time. I think Beachhead was missing its submachine gun too. In addition, I've bought a couple of vehicles in the past that were missing parts and decals and such...probably the work of the same one or two customizers. Now it looks like they've graduated from buying something and stealing/repacking/resealing shit in the comfort of their own home to just taking what they want right there in the store. |

I read they removed the codes on the newest wave? Idk,Legos are banned from my house since my first batch of kids. I have zero interest in collecting yet another toy, lol. Lego toys are too broad for me to even think about it for a second. Idk why not just put pictures on the bag or make them clear ? A true blind bag is BS.

Stick the whole figure in your pocket!!! Then they would have some additional fodder to trade BONUS!!!! Hell even better then that just rip off the ( UPC or whatever thing that sets off the theft detecter at the door ) thing and walk out the store with the whole box. Fuck it! If somebody stop and askes you about it just say you came in with it, just like those 4 web gears and 8 rifle accessories in your left pocket. Why not ? : /

We had some kids back when I worked retail that took out some Pokemon cards out of a pack and left the rest in the aisle, They were detained for shoplifting all the same. It was several packs they rifled through.
Does not matter if you take part or all of it, if you get caught it is still shoplifting.

Why are they ( web gear / accessories thieves ) even bothering taking the time to just steel the gear ?

The missing accessories/pieces I've noticed have been in resealed packages, which means the thieving twats have been doing the standard repacking shit. That opened Northstar figure with the missing head was a new one to me because, yeah, seems like one would just take the whole toy. My guess is that it makes less noise to pry just the top of the bubble open and pop the head off, but I don't know. Maybe MU figures are tied to the tray with those clear rubber bands or maybe this particular prick didn't want another lame MU body on his hands...shit, I don't know why a grown-ass man would steal a toy, much less the vagaries of the actual thievery.
Odds are in most of these cases its probably the same guy hitting up the same location again and again... And other locations around that area. Its a shame big box stores ( Like Walmart ) don't care to pay there employees enough so that they could actually care about there job. ( I fear i may have opened a whole other can of worms with that statement..but it had to be said because its part of the problem ) Im not saying every big box store empoyee dosen't care about there job, just saying that if they don't collect toys, that would be the last thing that they would care about. It would be nice if you could report to the return desk " hey there is a galactic shit ton of repacks in your toy department, keep an eye out for the guy who brings back 15 figures each week '' In a perfect world i guess ? The only thing repacking does is probably increase the price of figures. And piss us off. Who looses money when somebody repacks anyway ? Hasbro because it gets returned to them ? Or the store ?

I was at a TRU that had this set and it was marked down because it was missing the Ice Viper figure. SE was flopping around loose in the window. How could someone have returned it this way? Perhaps someone stole the fig out of the package.
