This thread makes me want to try repacking something...just to see if they'll take it back. I'd even like to get in store credit.

At the end of the day its the companies fault for being so greedy that they have a policy of trying to resell things that have been opened. If they just HAVE to try and restock returns they should draw the line at sealed packages. If a legit return has been opened, mind you a LEGIT return, its because there is something wrong with the contents and it shouldn't be restocked anyway.
Think about it. If you get a kid a toy and he already has that guy or just doesn't like that brand or whatever they package is usually returned sealed, I something IS unsealed and returned ( remember this is assuming a legit return)it is usually for a missing part or broken contents or stinky figure or some reason that SHOULD preclude it being restocked as evidenced by the fact it was returned to begin with. So at the end o the day this is the companies fault that we end up having to look at this crap clogging the shelves, which hurts the company in the long run by keeping product that would move from being ordered. Classic example of a greedy Corporation jumping over dollars to save dimes. |

I know, right? I like how some seemingly expect everyone to be as big a toy-geek as they are. Newsflash! Adults who give a shit about kid's toys are the aberration and not vice versa. Hell, outside of G.I. Joe crap, I wouldn't know what most toys ought to look like. Ben 10? Power Rangers? Barbie? Disney dolls? Even some Marvel...I have no idea.
I'd be willing to wager the volume of daily returns, of all products, is astounding. Let's say you're a schlub working a service desk and someone with a receipt returns something you don't care about--Scentsy shit or cosmetics or something related to feminine hygiene or exercise/healthy living...are you going to be able to know, in a pinch, in a reasonable amount of time, with a line of aggravated, self-absorbed customers, whether or not something's been monkeyed with? Yeah... |

But it has to be a good one, good enough to piss someone from the Tank off and they'll post pics of it here. LOL. That would be funny. And you can come out and say, "Hey! I did that!" LOL.

You may be right. After working in an AC building all day I would be confused too if someone was returning a box with a picture of a can opener and I look inside and there's an older model blender. C'mon, they have the pictures of the items right there on the freaking box. They can see what belongs and what doesn't belong. You don't have to be a GI Joe nerd to tell the difference. I mean hell, if someone was returning a Wonder Woman action figure in a Green Lantern packaging I would think that the customer is pulling one over on me. And plus, you can tell if it's been opened or not. Now the little accessories may be harder to notice but there are some repacks that have been accepted that should not have gotten past the Customer Service desk.
Bottom line, most of us aren't perfect enough to be bagging on others and refusing to see there are other facets to it. We're a bunch of goofy man-chillun's playing with kid's toys and losing our shit every time something toy-related doesn't go our way. I've seen adult collector's fast-walkin' it to action figure aisle...we're a creepy lot with no room to talk. |

ok so we can agree that the returns departments are not to blame. but what about the employee that puts this back on the shelf or the store manger that tels the employee he doesn't care just put it out there cause he doens't want to make a claims form for this item. these store want the aisle and items to be correct so if a manager or employee just puts something out there that wrong their idiots more than 95% of the time an item being returned is an item that the store has already on the shelf. so if an employee seen that this one is different than this one then are supposed to find out why and then if a manager gets involved. then theres absolutely no reason a repack should be put on the shelves.

Those complaining about "obviously opened products" should note that sometimes items end up unsealed before being sold. Sometimes it is from someone messing with it, but I've noticed that the plastic 'bubbles' for Skylanders and Star Wars figures are regularly falling off the card while hanging on the pegs, sometimes right out of the case. Toy companies have apparently been trying to save a few cents on glue for their packaging, which is a bad idea for Star Wars figures aimed at collectors who may want to keep the toys unopened.

I already responded to this lame argument above. Contrary to your skewed perspective, most people don't live and breathe toys enough to notice a lot of these swaps (I know I probably wouldn't with other toy lines...some of repacks are re-sealed expertly), and if they do notice it...well, it's not worth getting into an argument that could cost them their job over a $10.00 fucking toy.

So you mean to tell me that a Walmart employee looks at this package: And sees this figure in that package: And can't tell the difference??? You must think Walmart employees are the dumbest bunch fools on the planet. I just now put a POC Hawk figure in a Ultimate Roadblock package and asked my wife if she was a Walmart employee and I gave her that for a refund what would she say? And she didn't even look twice, she said they didn't match up. C'mon dude, give the Walmart employees a little more credit. I seriously don't think they are that dumb. It's laziness. |
