Ok here's my dilema. I army build vehicles, but I have a hard time figuring out who should pilot my Cobra vehicles besides main characters like Wild Weasel or Copperhead. Should I do it like the cartoon and stick a regular trooper in the cockpit and pretend that they know how to operate it?
Same thing goes for the joes...does Mutt really know how to fly a skyhawk or a skystriker? Does he even have the proper training or air time to do so? So here's my question to you, Who pilots what and how do you rationalize that they are qualified to do so. |

I have 3 Rattlers right now and Wild Weasel is the main pilot with 2 of the Cobra Pilots(Fang/Claw pack) as the pilots for the other Rattlers. I would say if blueshirts are going to be piloting your extra Rattlers, Water Mochasins, etc. at least they should be Officers(since Stinger Drivers,Cobra Pilots,Air Troopers, etc. are Officers). As far as the Joes go maybe green shirts or make some customs or just have regular Joes as drivers/pilots. In the cartoon/movie almost any and all Joes could drive/pilot anything.
500th post!!!

Yeah, I think they would have to be qualified. I think an air jet alone is something like 120 million. Therefore, unless they have certification I doubt they want Snake Eyes flying it.
I think anyone can man a turrent. They just have to be willing to be shot as its a dangerous position. |

I've forgot about the fang pilot but one thing still bothers me about using him. Flying a jet, don't you need a compression suit on? Especially when you're flying a jet! I I guess when we get strato-viper that solves the rattler problem for me, but I wish we got to use him in a night raven instead. For now I guess I will use the air pilots.

Cobra Air Troopers work good as Rattler pilots, with the Air Viper as gunners. Strato-Vipers will work perfect.
Sting Raider is a little harder. It's a boat, so it's not as technical as a jet fighter, so really anyone can pilot that. So having a Trooper behind the wheel is fine. Same with the assorted jeeps and such. It's nice to have the driver have taken some Combat Driving courses but... Edit: There is no way in hell that every member of the Joe team is qualified to fly Skystrikers. Even as a kid that drove me crazy. Same with the helicopters. Now some Joes do have Helicopter training, Flint and Scarlett come to mind. The Skyhawk, I label that as a helicopter (as far as whose qualified to fly it). So Wild Bill (there's enough extra of him to go around), Lift Ticket, Flint, Pilot Scarlett works great for the Skyhawk. But yes, as far as I'm concerned, the filecard has to show some qualification for them in order to drive the vehicle. So out of the 25th, only Steeler and Bazooka can use the Armadillo.

I agree with Troynos. The "everyone can fly or drive everything" concept used to drive me nuts. It really doesn't matter though. I tend to ignore the whole qualifications issue and just accept that all Joes are qualified to fly all or drive all vehicles. Doing this let's me focus on more important things like, whether or not my firebats will shoot down the conquests.

As far as joes go
Zap has a secondary specialty as a helicopter pilot Airborne as a gunner Scarlett, as mentioned pilot Cobra Boat pilot= lamprey, diver, eel, officer Fang= originally piloted by hiss drivers as they were the "vehicle Specialists Air trooper or paraviper might make nice rattler |

I have about 20 of each (Motor Vipers and Hiss driver/Commanders) They drive all of my ground vehicles. My army of 15 of each Strato-vipers and Gyro-vipers take care of the aircraft.
And my army of Dukes takes care of all the joe stuff (air/land/sea/space... I mean Hasbro wouln't make 2 of him in each wave if he wasn't the most qualified Joe for every job now, would they)

Strato Vipers and Lampreys will fill in the air and sea pilot rolls I think, even an eel or diver could probablly pilot the water mocasin. Ground vehicles I think pretty much anyone can pilot

Don't forget that the Baroness was Cobra Commander's personal pilot in the comic series.... but I've been using the Air Troopers to pilot/ride shottie on certain vehicles... One pilots my trouble bubble and one is the Gunner for my Rattler...
