Whatever floats your boats, folks! Right now, I have everything MOC but I have grabbed doubles of certain Cobra dignitaries and a gang of troop builders... vehicles get the same treatment. I only plan on displaying the Cobra army until I get the space to do an entire diorama or display in which I will pick which one of the 20 Dukes or 30 Snake Eyes will represent the character on my display. Until then, most of my collection will remain MOC except for the ones I actually have doubles of and display.

Nope, MOC and MOSC have been around alot longer than AFA has. AFA is just a high priced grading scale.

Never opening them always seemed silly to me. To each his own, but buying them to hold on to and resell later is pretty different than opening them and displaying them. The way I see it, if you open them, you are committing to them. If you never open them, you own them in the same sense that Target owns them before you bought them. It's like buying stock for your store. I can't understand how that would elicit the same emotional response. It seems much more cerebral, buy them, store them, protect them, resell them. As opposed to buy them, open them, enjoy them. It just seems weird to me. Everyone can collect however they want, and I won't fault them for it. I just can't pretend to understand it. The way I see it, MOC collectors are just holding them until openers buy them from them later. Of course that is unless they are sold to another MOC collector, and so on and so on. In that case it's almost like they were never actually owned. I suppose it kind of cool to "invest" in something you like, but from a purely monetary standpoint, there are a lot better ways to invest your money.

Im a MOC collector.. and I'll give you my opinion / reasoning - *note* MY OPINION *note*
For me - its easier to manage - I don't lose any parts, easier for me to store, easier and nicer *FOR ME* to display. Now I understand you can get tons of loose figures on a shelf compared to packaged figures - but I have pegboarded an entire room and hung the figures for display that way. I just always liked the look of having my own STORE.
Another problem is - when I was a kid my dad was military - we moved all the time anywhere from every 6months to 2.5years. You don't understand how hard it is to pack up all that loose stuff and not unpack to find parts missing.
I love the artwork and packaging on most my figures - I really enjoy the way my collection looks. Its not nessacarily the investment flip it on ebay later for me. I have toys I sell for my store yes.. but my personal collection is my personal collection.
How many times have you seen a packaged vintage figure and remember when you had one just like it - ya it was great to play with.. hell I will buy an extra if I wanted to play with my toys - but I personally love to have a vintage in package collection as well as a new colletion - it just makes me feel good to know I have it in all its original parts and pieces and packaging..
Again to each their own - I have been truely impressed by some peoples loose collections and dioramas - wish I was as creative.. but at the same time I can appreicate the time, effort and work of packaged toys and love to look around peoples still in box collection!

Tell me about it .... I don't care if some-one's got 100 sealed Cobra Troops.....it is not Army Building....I'd rather see some-one with 12 loose troops in a nice set up or formation, then seeing some guy with 100 sealed troops.......
1. If they really intended to open them and set them up , then they should open those figures up when they get them.....it'll save them space and time for when they finally set them up .
2. Having that many sealed figures of the same, makes it look more like you are going to sell them .
I don't have anything against Sealed collectors , but buying alot and keeping them sealed isn't Army Building .
The Best kind of Sealed collectors that I really respect , are the ones who buy one to keep sealed and one or more to open ..... unless you know something is worth alot (like some of the well know 25th variants) then there's nothing wrong with opening them.
