My first figure I think was Sgt. Slaughter and the Triple T. We just moved to Mississippi and I was walking down the street and saw some kids playing. Me being brave walked over and said hi. We played for hours and when I had to go home, one of the guys said, you don't have any joes? I told him I just moved from Cali and I didn't have my toys. He gave me his Sarge and Triple T so I could have something when we all played. My mom then precedded to buy me all the Tiger Force figures. Still have the figures but no weapons.

First figure was original straight arm Flash. Then a few days later Dad brought home Snake Eyes and Rock n Roll. I have been collecting ever since.

I was 4 and out with my mom and we were going to pick up some of these new toys my brother wanted, he must have been at school, so we found them and I was allowed to get some too! Awesome! So he got the Stalker and Rock & Roll he wanted, while I got Flash like so many others on here, and freaking Snake Eyes, all straight arm of course, I don't even think the cobras were available quite yet. A RAM cycle for each of us was the gravy, and alot of fun was had
First cobra that was definitely mine was either mail away Cobra Commander, or the 3 that I got with the cardboard Sears cobra base that Christmas, along with the MOBAT and VAMP, while big bro collected some as Star Wars, transformers and robotech distracted us. First figures as I got back into them all on my own-croc master, battle armor CC, fast draw. And destroying joes during early teen years worked best because they exploded or broke in many more places than star wars style figures. Not many regrets because I only wrecked ones I didn't care much for anyway. |

Man that was sooooo long ago. I don't even remember which ones were my first. I got all of the first 5 series of figs at Shopko, KMart, Sears from parents for Christmas,Birthdays and once every-other week my brother and I got to pick out 2 new figs each at the stores. Vehicles were always Christmas/Birthday gifts except for the smaller ones(Pac-Rat's, motorized backpack stuff, accessories packs, etc.) which we could get insted of 2 figures. I sold ALL of my vintage G.I.Joe/Cobras in 1996 for $200.00 I really wish I didn't do it now! I got all of the figs/vehicles from my brother over the years because he liked the TMNT and other stuff more so I traded some baseball cards and stuff like that for his Joes. In that box that went for $200 was EVERY US carded figure up to 1989-1990 along with almost every vehicle(no Flagg or G.I.Joe base) up to around the same years and accessory packs, mini playsets, etc. I was stupid and wanted the money for car stereo stuff(I bought 2 12" Pioneer subwoofers and built a box for them with the $200).

ahh...Christmas '82 for me and my brother it was straight-arm figures: Flash, Scarlett, Short Fuze, a Cobra trooper and the RAM Cycle.
Since Flash was a laser rifle trooper, it somehow made sense to have him fighting against my TIE Pilot and Imperial Snowtrooper, since the other two Joes were fighting the Cobra guy. A few days later at a different Christmas party we scored Grand Slam/HAL and Steeler/MOBAT. And again they had to fight Star Wars Imperial troops 'cause I didn't get anymore Cobras until a couple years later when I got Scrap Iron and a TeleViper. |

Mine was Breaker, 1982, for my birthday. My brother got Rock n' Roll for his birthday the month before, so I was psyched about getting a Joe with a backpack.

I don't know which was the first, but I recall just a few of the "old school" ones that I owned prior to getting back into Joes in the late 80s...
Baroness, Sgt. Slaughter with the Triple T, Thrasher with the Thunder Machine, Zarana, Ripper and Hydro Viper. I had a few more early 80s vehicles and small accessories, but those stand out as my "first". I remember later getting back into Joes after I got the Badger, Recoil and Pathfinder as a surprise Christmas gift from a family friend, and then I got back into them strong until it went all space-creature. |

GENERAL Hawk
Cobra BAT I thought the BAT was cool because of the chest hologram. I think my folks bought them for me at Kmart back when they didn't suck. Every time I see Hawk now, I think he looks more and more like Robert Mitchum...
