Really?? Is this it? Has life gotten so bad for all of you that all you can do is bitch about repacks and things you can't buy? You know what, with everything in the world going on, all you can do is complain about a $7 figure?!? Grow up and get a life.
I love Joes and have gotten a TON of the 25th anniversary figs and I will continue to do so until the movie figs start hitting the shelves. I've seen switchouts on the shelves as well but I don't spend hours thinking about how unfair life is that someone returned the wrong figure in a packaging and got their money back. I think about taking care of my family and paying bills and making sure I still have a job in a month. In the meanwhile I enjoy the Joes I get and love my hobby. Every one of you sounds like a whiny child. Its not like you're expected to pay for something that you don't want nor do you have to foot the bill. And quit being so melodramatic. The comparison someone made about after a swap-out taking place, the next thing that person will do is attempt to get away with murder. Really? You're going to compare stealing a figure with taking a human life!?. Not even on the same board. If everyone really can't handle this, I suggest you get a helmet because life is going to get much harder than this. |

I think the people who make a fuss are jealous. I can understand if it's something you have not found yet a few months after it hit the street, but the comic packs and 5pks are all over the place, why do you care if yhou already own them. If you believe in a higher power, then you should believe they will get theirs and be done with it. I never see threads about spotting drunk drivers on the road. Do you call 911 and follow them when you see them swerving? If not, you must care about plastic toys more than human life. Have you ever driven your car after 3 or 4 beers? That's a felony last time I checked. Some of you guys really need to a reality check. If you really care that much, why not buy every repack you see and then sell them loose so little Timmy won't get stuck with it. If you don't, let the store's insurance company worry about it. And last time I checked, repackers replace toys with toys, so they are not free. I don't believe in it, but I also don't believe in other's telling me how to live my life. Did you know they raised the loose tobacco tax from $2 to $25 a pound? Now that is something to complain about. Gotta love people telling others how to live their lives.

I"m glad to report that I had an experience with this at my walmart. I actually play magic with the Loss prevention guy there, and Know one of the Assistant managers fairly well as well as the toys Manager.
I saw about $300 in repacks sitting on the shelf. Some of it was product my walmart had never gotten in stock. There were 80's dvd packs with the CC replaced with other figures and BAT movie packs with dusty and the BAT replaced by 15 year old figures. There were also new comic packs and vehicles with some rediculous shops. Being as they were all returned to the store the same day and done so without a reciept they actually had the DL # of the person who did it. The products did not go back on the shelfs and the person was prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for theft and fraud. I educate my friend on what is popular to repack and he educates the customer service people at the three stores he works at. That is a type of service that most people don't get and it is sad. I know at the target in between two of the wal-marts that they no longer take returns on action figures because of the problem. If you see one repack, there will probably not be much done about the situation, but if you see a bunch put them all in a cart and ask to speak to loss prevention and a store manager. Loss prevention guys love getting convictions and hunting these people down, and generally managers want to have product on the shelfs that will sell. I told them that I would have bought some of the stuff, had it been legit. This is a problem that you should bring to the attention of management and explain to them how you are a loyal customer and that you know things like this throw off inventory and effect the stock that your store that you SPEND MONEY at recieves. I say that it sucks people do have to come on here and "whine" about it, but it is a problem that is bad for the hobby and bad for the business. I hope that this method helps get things addressed at your store, it really helps if you show genuine concern and don't come off as some crazy toy collector or scalper. Theft is theft, I refuse do condone crime of any type. And don't worry doctorteeth, my finances are in order and my family is well taken care of. I have a very secure job in the US government. As a good American, I only demand justice. |

no one is telling anyone how to live thier lives. simply discussing how the illegal acts of others are impact them and others. some here are proactive and report the crime just as you hope some would with more serious issues. just because this is toy theft doesn't mean that we should not appreciate the effort some take to see some measure of justice being done. theft costs stores money. stores pass one increased costs to consumers. ignoring theft is to accept price increases that are to an extent preventable. why does it surprise anyone here that this issue is brought up and discussed? this is a gi joe forum, all things gi joe. repacking is one aspect of gi joe collecting/purchasing. it's just as legit a topic for discussion as the 100 threads on repaints. does it seem petty when compared to global economics, absolutely. are we here on this forum specifically to focus on global crisis, social injustices, economics, no. any one issue isolated from context can easily be accused of being childish ranting, etc. i'm not here to take a look at the big picture and consider all greater good in the world in relation to gi joes, i'm here to look at a very small part of what i enjoy in my life in the minute details such as the awsome customs, bickering about repaints, polls on what we do and don't want again, etc. my retort is, if you don't want to contribute to the conversation, leave it alone. no one is forcing you to comment on something you find trivial.

i find your reply without merit. we are here on a focused issue forum discussing illegal activity that both effects us the consumer and the retailer. if you want to discuss other social outrages, there are likely focused issue forums for that as well. this forum need not cover every issue, just the one issue it was built around.
