well for the collectors that don't have access to the comic packs and/or the offer, I really hope they are not forced to pay such a premium for a nice figure.
I would hate to have to pay so much for a "fun" hobby. Bad enough the Destros and Piper figures are through the roof. |

I understand, it's just not healthy for a hobby when most of the figures get in the hundreds of dollars.
I do know that Hasbro offered their POP mailaways at the conventions they attended, so it's very possible you'll be able to get DOC at a con for around $10-15 |

Probably $35 at the least and $65 or more. I won't pay that much but many others will.
One of my first figures as a kid was buying Doc...and I remember sending off to get Duke back then. But def. would not get the Doc at the expense of buying so many comic packs especially knowing myself and I would have to buy two of each comic packs (to open and to keep in package).

This is one of the reasons I customise. Living in the UK, I have to get any Joe figures I need off the internet. So if there are any I want, I sometimes end up paying up to three times what you Americans pay when you factor in the postage. This means that I am very selective about what I buy and who I buy it from. As for customising, it is a hobby that I really enjoy, and I get a real sense of satisfaction out of every finished figure.
$65 for a Doc figure? I would rather go without one. Same with the SDCC Pimp Daddy Destro. In the case of the latter, I could get a cheap Destro and out comes the paint and brushes. Doc will probably be released on a card as part of a regular wave sometime fairly soon, anyway, or will be released by the Hasbro Toy Shop. Yes, I would like a mail-in Doc. But. 1) I can wait, 2) I am not prepared to pay $65 for a 4 inch piece of plastic when the money could buy me quite a few others. |

There will be a market out there for the $50-$100 figure, but I think it will dry up pretty quickly.
You can already see people tripping over themselves trying to profit off this mail-in. People stealing stickers, people only buying the packs for the certificates and than selling the remaining pieces. The Doc figure MAY not end up being all that hard to come buy, only time will tell. |

As for your $65 yellow Stalker and $150 SDCC Gold Destro. You paid those prices because of when you bought them. I paid $22 (shipped) for my yellow Stalker back in Sept/Oct and the SDCC Gold Destro wasn't always going for $150 on eBay until recent months (when I got my Silver Destro for around $30, I think the Gold one was going around $75). Realistically, I agree with Outback, I think Doc will be going for around $75 in the beginning and you could see him go as high as SDCC Gold Destro (not saying it will stay that high, but I can see it reaching that high). Now is this a fair price? That is a hard question to answer. Personally I say, no. Last edited by WildWeasel; 01-09-2008 at 10:38 AM.. |

Back to the original question, the idea that Doc is "worth" $65 based on the cost of the comic packs and shipping charge is silly. Doc will be "worth" whatever collectors are willing to pay for him, and that will depend upon how many hit the market. |
