Hey guys I had sometime today and decided to make a display for my loose figures.
I came across some scrap 1/2" plywood and some trim. Anyways this is what I made. 28" x 40" x 3" Seven total shelves at 4 1/2" tall Let me know what you think? Last edited by Flame Viper; 06-23-2009 at 09:06 PM.. |

it's got an old school flare to it.
i can dig it. you might want to paint it though? i dunno. just a loose thought. black will make all your figs pop. plus it'll look tough. my two cents. good work, dude. |

Thank you!
You are right. I think I may go pick up some primer and black spray paint. Then I will probably look for some stickers or decals to put on it. |

looks good, I like the size, but I agree a coat of paint will give it that extra something. But what color?

nice handy work. i've been contemplating doing something like this myself with 3/4" frame, 1/4" backing. make it 18" wide, maybe 30" with adjustable shelving. i'd like to get it just wide enough for 6 figures wide. 1/4" glass shelves will offer the best choice for slim shelving. i can also slot the top and bottom of the frame to allow for a removeable plexiglass panel with finger holds cut to get it in and out as needed. the small size should keep the plexi from warping over time.
i've got all the drawings done in my head, unfortunately i don't have any millworking tools so this is all just wishful thinking for me. i wouldn't paint the entire thing black. maybe the inside with a white outer frame? also, with a black interior it's going to be very dark unless you have good lighting on that wall. you could also put up custom printed background(s). i scanned most of the box artwork from vehicles and 5 packs in case i ever got the something like this done.

Don't forget to add glass in the front. Dust on your figures sucks! Hence my complete MOC collection hehe

Well I just my coat of white primer on. It looks better already.
Honestly I think I am going with Gloss Black. I think with my lighting I have it should really make everything stand out nicely. Yes, I will be adding a glass front sometime next week. I probably will go with Plexiglas. There is a store in town that will do a great job. I had all my loose figures in a box, just so they would not get dusty. I shudder to think how bad dust could get on that. Now finally I can show off my stuff. And yes I do have a lot more figures. Those were just there to show spacing. Thank you for all the feedback. |
