Nope.
Usually asked if it's for me or someone else. This leads to more questions, like: "Really, how long have you been collecting" Or statements like: "Wow, my brother used to have GI Joes! They're so much cooler now" Etc. Those are the ladies. If the checker is a guy, he'll usually ignore me... with, perhaps, a grunt. |

TOP TEN POSSIBLE RESPONSES TO "ARE YOU GOING HOME TO PLAY WAR?"
10. No, thanks for asking. But I did play war for the United States Army. This here, it's a freaking collection. Try not to get those confused, smart ass. 9. If your child had a terminal illness, you'd be buying them toys too, lady. 8. I'm starting with a series of small skirmishes. 7. I am. Do you per chance have any military experience? 6. Nah, I mainly just open and pose them, show them to friends, take a few pictures, maybe create a battle scene, if you will. Every now and then I'll gaze at them. Why? Do you play war? 5. Who do you work for? Have you been talking to General Hawk? 4. No. But I WAS planning a covert strike. You blew that didn't you?! Take 'em back, they're all comprimised now damnit. 3. War's over baby, and I won. 2. I inherited this war. 1. (Deadpan) No. |

Notice that you gave her the number one response. Glad you liked it. I had a laugh coming up with it.

That's such a great way to get into conversations about... well... anything!
'Are you going home to play war now...' After which I would start flirting like crazy... with the conversation finishing with ... 'If you see anymore could you hold them back for me? You're an angel!" Remember, shop assistants are ludicrously bored almost all the time. They will remember conversations. If you act like you like them, they will like you. If they like you, they will sort stuff out for you...

I stoppede by Target the other night to check the Joes and as i head for the toy aisle I see a couple in early thirties. he is holding a Stalker figure in his hand, it was obvious to see he was excited to have it. As I pass I say "Those are for kids ya know." Before he says anything she jumps to his defense with a "not necessarily". A nice little conversation ensues when I told them I was heading that way myself. He and i both shared how we had loved the things as kids and how much we liked the new line. It was cool. It was also cool to see a kid of about 8 maybe 9 nine picking out Joes with encouragement from his MOM. Awesome.

Dmizrok, what makes you think that? Just cause it's true? Man, people are always throwing the truth out there like it's somthing special.
Kidding of course. I guess the deadpan 'no' just stuck with me. Sorry I was a bit confused on who got credit. Whoops. Thanks for pointing it out though. |

How much are they on clearance? I saw one a month or so ago on clearance here but the package looked like someone had a battle with it...I think it was only marked down $10 or so....I know they have got to be reasonable because people on the bay are selling them for cheap cheap. Buying 7 of those monster boxes is awesome!
