So I was packing my stuff up today b/c I am moving and I started remembering things from when I was younger about ARAH,
The first is kinda dumb, since I never had a hooded commander and I had only seen my friend's a few times I always thought you could probably taker his hood off. I was under the impression that since he had eyes he MUST have a face under there and always wondered what would happen if I took the head off, took a knife and cut around the bottom of the mask and pulled the head out. Mind you I was about 4 or 5 at the time, but in later years I obviously knew this would neither work nor provide the results I desired lol. Ohh the imagination of a child! The second: We all remember the mini catalogs that came with the figures. You could order figs directly from Hasbro, hooded commander, the vehicle driver set (stonger, hiss, copperhead) and a few Joes as well, may have been pilots... anyways I decided one day when I was about 12 that I wanted more from Hasbro than what they were showing. I sat down and wrote a letter to them asking them if I could buy a Crimson Guard, Viper, Techno Viper and I am sure many other figures that I either wanted doubles of or that had worn through the years and either broke or became very loose. I was very optimistic that Hasbro would reply with good news. I did receive a reply from Hasbro thanking me for my interest and thanking me for taking the time to write them, but unfortunately all the molds for the original figures had been destroyed. I thought that rather odd... why would you destroy those molds? In recent years I believe 2002 and up, just before the 25th line hit I saw an influx of older figs. redone including CG and Viper! The CG came with the removable helmet both red and black paint jobs but had the exact same body mold. The Vipers came in different gift packs and had slight mods, such as the legs.. but I knew the legs and lower torso had been used into the 90s b/c a Mindbender from Battle Corps used them, and in fact the entire Viper Mold was reused in 90, 97, 02... so what was the problem? Im not sure what it took for Hasbro to remake those figs. but felt it was pretty shitty of them to lie to a 12year old who just wanted another CG and Viper. Ahh well I am content with the 25th/Modern line and have much more Vipers and CGs than I ever did as a kid. Anyone else ever experience anything like this with Hasbro? Aside from the claims that the Skystriker mold is broken... yeah sure..
