No one would have noticed how crappy the Speed Racer toys were if they didn't cram a case of cars per peg and dedicate 15 more pegs for those super boring figures.
Recently Joes were tough to find, so you never really absorb anything crappy from it. Now you see Flint, Resolute figures and Torch hanging, and the line starts looking campy.
When movie lines come out, they are ordered and shipped in big quantities. I do hope for the sake of the entire line, the movie line does well so they can continue to pump money into and make the things we all want to see down the road.
I am in no hurry to get everything as I am welcoming this break.

here's the problem. the only alternative to the solution is for Hasbro not to release images of product before it gets shipped to retailers to ensure they get released. considering most of us clamor for images of new product as soon as possible, that doesn't seem to be a viable solution for collectors, either.
so, we either have to accept that some of these images may change or be canceled, or not get any images at all. but we can't have it both ways.

Weii to me whether a toy is crappy has nothing to do with how many there are in the store. I don't care for 99% of the movie toys I have seen, although I do admit that could change once i actually see them live. No matter how well the movie line does, let's face it, movie lines almost always have a limited life span. Eventually Hasbro will have to bring out new stuff and hopefully it will be 25th toys.

I don't feel Hasbro did this to intentionally piss anyone off. It seems they were intending on releasing them, but plans changed. Sometimes I think we "fanboys" take shit too seriously. Yeah this sucks big time. I was really looking forward to army building some Stingers, Flaks, and even grab an Arctic HISS or two. Hopefully they'll see release someday. But in the meantime I don't think Hasbro should be lynched for his one. Let's save our torches and ropes for later....I mean have you seen some of the crap they're trying to release for the movie? I have to admit, I was very optimistic and excited about the movie toys, but after Toy Fair.....I'm pretty disappointed. Just in the first wave Hasbro is trying choke us with rehashed and repainted crap. Couldn't they wait for wave 2 or 3? SHAMELESS!!!!

If they were sitting in a warehouse we'd have them on store shelves somewhere because a comapny isn't going to sit on a bunch of product if they think they can make money off of it.
My guess is those were some prototypes and full production didn't happen.

I agree that the movie line has a few good things. Some of the vehicles will be cool. The figures aren't bad just not my Joes, but with customizing and imagination maybe the could be a Joe Strike Team.
I do think like ever movie line these figures will be over produced and won't overally popular and ultimately like 90% of the movie lines fail.
Now, what I worry about is Wal-mart going to Hasbro saying we don't want GI JOEs they don't sell.

Personally, I think it's just the retailers being zealous and cautious at the same time. Nobody wants to be the guy that's "out" of the movie-based toy that's suddenly the hottest thing running (see "Transformers" for a recent example) and nobody knows which movie is going to be the "big winner" in any given year as far as capturing kids' imaginations and sending them running to the toy aisles.
Of course, I also think that the Joe movie product roll-out might be a lot more conservative than some folks are envisioning. Transformers 2 is Hasbro's biggest "push" for the year, I'd imagine Joe is a distant second (with Wolverine/Marvel Universe a trailing 3rd and Star Wars always being an "ongoing").
I would not be surprised if "Movie Joe" product is being pushed out at about the same level as Transformers movie product initially was a couple years ago. If the line's a big seller, it'll disappear quickly and Hasbro will readjust as necessary. If not, they'll have balanced their risk vs. their potential rewards or losses. Plus, I would certainly imagine Hasbro is keeping the state of the economy in mind, and adjusting production accordingly. They seemed to do that with the Clone Wars toys last year, certainly.
Either way, it will certainly be a lot more product on shelves than we've seen the last few years, and Hasbro's all-but-guaranteed to make plenty of money selling the movie line to retailers, but I'm not sure I'd quite be expecting a full on "Star Wars Movie" level of mega-launch.

Hasbro has made adjustment, when the call was for clone troopers, hasbro was slow to react during ROTS but for clone wars there are more clone troopers on the pegs then ever before.
