I keep hearing how when the movie comes out the 25th line is going to be on hiatus for awhile and no one knows what the final verdict is going to be on continuing the line. Which bums me out big time because I unfortunatly got into the 25th line very late, literally its only been a few months.
Some of that is ok, because as much as my local stores suck, Im still at a point where hunting can still be rewarding as I have so much catching up to do. Also places like BBTS have been excellent now that the addiction has kicked in. What Im hopping though is that when the movie comes out, the 25th line doesnt stop. Why should it?? I remember when X3 came out, talking to my comic book shop guy he said "When these movies come out, not only does the movie line sell but everything that holds its name does too..X-men items that have little to nothing to do with the movie fly off the shelf now" I mean, I would think the same thing for Joe stuff. Hasbro is still making money and they have got to be happy with how well the 25th line is doing and profitting. The fans are obviously happy because we're buying the stuff up. And the distributors have it made, from ebay sellers to TRU. It just seems like a win-win situation. The other thing is looking at my original childhood collection I think, wow...they have a ways to go, there are still alot of guys that havent been 25th'd, a ton of vehicles etc etc... I dont know I'm obviously not a business or marketing guy, I just cant see how it wouldnt be wise to keep the 25th line around. Unless the plan is to take it away, which puts it in high demand, then reintroduce it again later. As far as the movie line goes..yeah they may end up looking cool. But how many people that have read this post today are going to buy a Marlon Wayans Ripcord before they buy 10 Cobra Divers?? |

I agree with you. I don't know why both lines can't run at the same time. The whole confusion for new people jumping on board is a load of crap from Hasbro. Hasbro doesn't want both lines at the same time because 'they' don't want to. I not gonna go into it. We'll see how it goes.

They did the same thing with the Transformers Classics line. It was just a filler line to get them to the movie, but was so popular, they continued it under a new name after the movie. I think the big box stores have something to do with this too since so many summer movies have toys and they don't have the shelf space to carry the individual lines side by side.

Hate to say this, but with the market the way it is right now, I don't see how arctic GI Joe movie toys are gonna sell en masse this summer.
Hasbro's outright betrayal to collectors in favor of political correctness also puts forward the possibility that no one is gonna buy this stuff come August-September. I could be wrong, but the market predictions for the summer are grim and the 8.99 GI Joe "kids only" figures will not be attractive to parents. Just my .02, so throw it out the window if you don't agree. |

I read an article in the latest Toyfare(?) I think....an interview with Hasbro, that they will be on hiatus for a few months starting prolly in late June or so. But they WILL be back with the regular 25th line after the movie figs are released. Plus, the movie line figures and vehicles will be in same scale as the reg 25th ones. But they PROMISED they will be back with the reg line!

Well all the goofy movie designs aside. They still are 25th figures. They have the same body construction, articulation, and web gear.
But I think its good they are focusing on kids. After work tonight, When I bought Vogel tonight, one of my friends kid kept asking me questions about IJ and gi joe. But post movie, we will see gi joes on the shelves and that is beyond awesome. |

I agree Bravestarr, in this economy $8.99 is too much to buy just because you are there and the kid wants it. Of course, this is coming from the guy that drops $15 on a Barbie for his daughter just for the hell of it, but a 3.75" action figure will never be worht more than $5 to me. I am sure a lot of parents who don't collect toys will agree.

But they will flood the shelves like every movie line. Iron Man toys are still on the shelf. But if they are 8.99, I won't be purchasing as many, likely a limit of 3 movie vipers, that IG pack, and Moto vipers. I'm hoping that dude in China stocks more of them though. But only time will tell. |

yeah i guess its a good time to take a break, even though i was very bummed to hear this news of the 25th line being put on hold. i really do need to save some money for other things besides joes so it will give me some time to do that.
