Though possibly not a new idea, certainly one with an extraordinarily high geek factor. Has anyone ever thought of creating a Miniature wargame conversion for GI Joe, ala Warhammer or Battletech? With some impractical exceptions (USS FLAG, Combra Mamba, etc.) one could probably use the GI Joe toys themselves, using rulers to measure movement and weapons range, etc.
Obviously it's an excuse to take them off the shelves and actually play with them again, but then again they'd make some awesome visuals if the game had tight rules and playability. The potential for different unit types and a huge variety of scenarios could make for an interesting game, though obviously it would need to be carefully balanced. Has this been done? |

I had the idea of incorporating Inquisitor rules for it.
Basically just change the names etc. Games Workshop that's a link to the rulebook - enjoy :oD Scale should be about right as well |

Actually I was thinking of doing something along those lines. Only finding a group among my circle of friends would be a tough sell.

I had been chatting about this idea with some friends of mine. We were thinking of possibly modifying some existing Battlefield Evolution rules and items for Joe. Throw in a few of those mini Joe-scale vehicles that were produced a few years ago like the BattleHawk and Sky Stalker and you got yourself a tabletop wargame.

I was thinking of something similar to Games Workshop's model as well. Sort of 2 main codexes, for Cobra and GI Joe respectively. But then you could create sub-armies with specific rules, such as Iron Grenadiers, Dreadnoks, Tiger Force, etc.
I was looking at converting some of my flight pods with a drill so I can mount them on clear stands as well, like the landspeeders in Warhammer 40k. You could even do multiple heights with the bases and stands to represent different altitudes. Bigger aerial vehicles pose a problem though, so you might have to cap things like Conquests cause they'll take up the whole table, focus on smaller planes and copters. Just some thoughts I've been kicking around. |

Hey it sounds a little less geeky to be playing a 'strategy game' with your toys rather than just playing with them.
