You know, at first it was fun. Driving around looking for figs, missing sometimes, hitting others. With some time and patience I was able to get what I wanted during the wave 1,2,3 and 4 hunt.
That was November. I still need Flash, V1 Snake Eyes and Snow Job, and I've yet to see a single comic pack anywhere at retail. I’ve managed to find a 25th CG but that’s as far as the story goes and that find was in November. We’re now at Jan 1 and I haven’t seen anything despite shopping almost daily at our many local stores (6 Wal-Marts, 1 Target, 2 TRU’s, 3 K-Marts) and not a single find in well over a month. Only the same peg warmers over and over again. Yet there’s no shortage of these figs being hack-sold on eBay and other toy web sites that love to charge $14.99 for a fig that retails for $4.88 @ Wal-Mart. Where do these guys get them because I'm sure as hell finding nothing. WTF am I missing here? Where are these figs going? Why is it that every time I ask a Wal-Mart toy guy I get the “Well, there’s 8 figures on order…†response? 8? Am I taking crazy pills?! We have 6 local Wal-Marts and each is getting 1 of each fig…to support a major city population? No wonder I can’t find a damn thing! There is simply none to go around! AAAAARG!!! The bottom line is this. With few stores carrying little and there only being a trickle of figs coming out, I’m tired of wasting my time and $$ needlessly driving form town to town only to come out empty handed. Mean while every store on the face of the planet has 1000000000000 30th Star Wars figs lining the shelves. ! Why oh why Hasbro have you released a FLOOD of Star Wars 30th toys and a pathetic trickle of 25th Joe stuff? If this continues I’m going to have to give in and order only the figs I MUST HAVE from the price gouging online retails…it just burns my ass thinking about paying 3 times a figs worth though… Is this the future of collecting? Price gouged crap with a few making a killing while the others get F'd? If so once this 25th crap is over I'll never again collect ANYTHING current as this round has been greed coupled with corporate stupidity and and resulted in nothing but frustration for me. |

Well since Wave 5 came out at the very tail end of November, more prominent in early December, I think that it's not time to panic yet. We just had holiday season were everything gets bought up. I think we'll see more figures as stores recooperate from the madness that is Christmas. I don't think it hurts to do Pre-Orders at BBTS either. You can always cancel the order(s) if you manage to find it at retail before they get it.

the same thing was said about wave 3 when it first was released, and now you can't go into a Target without tripping over them. wave 5 is technically wave 1 of 08, and I am sure it will be readily available in a few months just like wave 3 is now a few months after it was released.
sure, part of the problem is distribution and scalpers, but the other part is your own need to have to have it now when they are first released. don't fret, you will find them in a few months when you want to be looking for wave 6, but buying them now or in a few months is really arbitrary as long as you get them. |

Quite true... What bums me out is now that the "easy favorites" figs have been released...the more obscure figs are coming out. Guys like Wetsuit, Bats, Crimson Twins, Wild Weasel and others that don't make the "Top 10" list are coming out...I REALLY want to get them and this lack of distribution makes me nervous... |

patience is not always the answer unfortunately. i'm having the same problems now with the 25th gi joe line that i had with transformers altenators line in my area. despite what others find, my area was always way behind and i was lucky to find anything good when they did stock/restock. i had to give up on the altenators simply because i had gaping holes in the collection by the time they were discontinued. some places just don't get what you want when you want it or ever for that matter. thank god for the good people here at this forum though
(pm me if your interested in any altenators, i've sold/selling off most of what i have to focus on other lines) Last edited by arch2b; 01-01-2008 at 05:05 PM.. |

I feel your pain. I resort to BBTS. It's easy and provides no stress.

The bottom line is this: Hasbro isn't shipping enough yet. If you want these figs you need to pick a walmart, and start going there everyday right when they open. if you're a few minutes late then you miss out. if you have to work, too bad. Then you have to find other means. Hitting 8 stores in a day is not doing you any favors, just wasting gas.

I also agree with you. There were some figs that I saw once, bought them and have never seen them again. I’ve seen ONE Cobra Officer, and one of each of the wave 4 stuff… I’m afraid that I will never see any wave 5 in stock, they’ll never again get any others in and I’ll either land up buying a Snow Job or Flash fig for $20.99 from eBay or go without… Ask some poor guys who could never find a Wal-Mart masterpiece Star scream what they think about waiting… This still makes me mad that the 30th Star Wars stuff is taken so seriously with TONS of figs, vehicles and availability while one of the most popular toy lines of the 80’s has been such a mess… If I wanted to, I could go out tonight and buy nearly every one of the 30th SW figs and vehicles with no problem...Hell, for that matter I could have accomplished that last week during the Christmas rush...I couldn't find a single wave 5 fig if I spent the rest of the week searching every store within a 100 mile radius. What's wrong with this picture? Last edited by smokehouse; 01-01-2008 at 04:51 PM.. |

oh yeah, glad you mentioned the masterpeice startscream... nearly gave up hope of ever finding one of those until the weekend before christmas ... found 3 on an end cap under the glut of sw/tf stuff. this is after waiting/checking 3 walmarts regularly for a very long time.
i will buy/trade from members anytime, before resorting to ebay prices. good people here |

Correct...that's why I'm stopping the searches as of now. I work 6AM-4:30PM M-F so I have little chance of finding jack-shit...thus my frustration. I need to either have no job, no life or work some goofy shift just to get my hands on a F'ing toy...that's absurd. |
