It's so nice after this drought to stare down at the new figures I have attained via the Retaliation Movie line. Most of us waited and waited while the 7 month drought of Joes never seemed to end. Finally, Joes started coming back to major stores and all of us plastic crack heads were back in business. With this said, I must say that although Hasbro brought some new sculpts and fan favorites back for the movie figure release, I almost feel like they contracts Lanard to make their vehicles and figures.
Even the crappy ROC vehicles that only found sales at Ross/Marhsalls, etc...had articulated drivers and somewhat matched what we saw on screen. I know that people are tired of Hasbro bashing, and I commend them on some of the figures that they brought out for Retaliation. I do however, feel that Hasbro cut corners, missed the mark and blatantly released substandard vehicles to back up the figure line. After seeing some reviews of the vehicles and their fragile construction, horrible paint schemes, and non-articulated drivers I feel like Hasbro slapped us all in the face. As much as I hope the line does well to support future releases, I really hope that Hasbro takes it in the ass in sales for these horrible vehicles. I know some of you feel the same and I hope that those Tankers that make it to JoeCon let the Hasbro people know how a lot of us feel. |

lmao...trust me. they will get it hard in the ass for this. the sad part is they easily could have used an overused 25th mold repaint with good articulation to save money and not even deal with making new sculpt t crotch figures and the vehicles would be flying off the shelves. I don't know about you but I would have gladly purchased the bright blue fangboat if it came with a neo viper repaint even over the newly sculpted Swamp Viper they gave us. they'll learn don't worry.

I kinda dig the bright colors. The boat is my favorite. lovin the blue and silver.
Just picked up a Tread Ripper the other day. Its neat. and from what I can tell is actually accurate to the film version.

Just remember that these toys aren't made for you. They are made for little kids. Collectors have put Hasbro between a rock and a hard place. When they try to make the cool stuff for adult collectors, the adults say "I'll wait for Ross". Parents say their kids will lose half the accessories on the intricate toys anyway. When they make things simpler for parents and kids, the collectors get vocal with their disappointment online. Hasbro tried to walk the line. They made simplified versions of previously released vehicles for the kids and the upcoming ultimate figures and Eaglehawk for the adult collectors. They are basically putting out two lines at the same time under one banner.

^^ I resent this. Kids still deserve better than the figures the vehicles come with in this day and age and this whole "wait for ross" thing is blown outta proportion. Ross is only in like 25% of the usa. and if I'm not mistaken most of the stuff Ross gets is stuff that never really went to major retailers anyway.

Hasbro may be cost cutting for 2 main reasons: 1. Poor sales in past years, that has resulted in stores slashing or droping their stock of GI Joe and 2. Lack of interest in the younger generation.
To combat the lack of interest, they need to advertise the hell outta their toys like they did in the past. Even using their Hub Network as the sole advertising source for the toys would revive some interest. Think: how many of us saw an ad in the 80's or '90's for the Mauler, WHALE, Snake Eyes or whatever the toy and then bugged mom and Dad about it later on? They should also do a new cartoon picking up on where ARAH left off. That being said, its' good to see new Joes back on the shelves.

This isn't new. These vehicles were released last year and we all threw a hissy (myself included) at the vehicle driver figures. Our disdain for these is not news to Hasbro. But Hasbro has thrown us a none with the night landing that's gonna be released and, of course, the Tomahawk. Both will be coming with excellent figures. The ninja combat cruiser is, IMO, worth the money. That's the only vehicle I've bought, but I've read some good things about the Ghosthawk II. But just as with every other Joe product that's ever been made, if you don't like it, don't buy it. Hasbro will (or won't) get it. But look at it this way --- the overall line is still better than IM3 toys.

I like the retaliation figures. I think they did a good job with the detail and sculpting. The vehicles though suck. But I accepted that they where not made for me, but for kids. And luckily toysrus still had some of the 30th anniversary vehicles, so I had something to buy. My concern is that the cycles began peg warming in February. After the movie is released i wonder if other parents are gonna like the vehicle pricing for their kids. i think they need to put those cycles on sale for 9.99 when the movie releases. Because someone needs to buy alot of that crap SOON to make room for wave 3 & 4.

I guess I'm in the minority but I actually like the tread ripper. It looks like a cross between an off road vehicle and a tank. As far as uniqueness, it's the nicest looking vehicle so far in this line and the only one I've purchased. The Ghosthawk 2 is horrendous. If done differently could have been a nice looking plane. The rest are just cheep repaints with arashikagi symbols all over them. So yea, the tread ripper gets a thumbs up in my book.
