THIS IS SPARTA!!

This is my own humble opinion of looking back at 2007 for G.I. Joe 25th, & how much I enjoyed this line, & I am sure all of you who collect, have something to add (positive or negative), so please, feel free at your own constructive take (right here) on your thoughts about G.I. Joe this past year!!
...2007, the year that brought a pretty successful relaunch to G.I. Joe IMO. With a new line, "25th Anniversary," classic stylings, new innovative tooling, & a new sense of figure demand, this year truly marks a new start for Joe.
When you think that the 25th line was only to be the 2 original 5-packs (which seemd to sell well by standards), those packs maybe would have made your display for a while, then maybe put aside for whatever was your next hot thing for display purposes or collecting needs. Luckily this was not the case, & the line was expanded tp "25", retailers demanded singles, & singles (even while quickly done) sold by the hoards...adding a bit more steam to the little line that could (again).
For me, I have not been on hunts like this for figures for a few years, & the thrill is back. It also seems like Collector's are back. People who dropped Joe for years have returned, revitalized & reinterested in the brand again, whether it be nostalgia or something else. I have not seen this kind of excitment in Joe in a long time, so much so that many of us hunt several times a week, & maybe joined this board just recently.
Sure, it was not without a few problems along the way, quiet distrobution, lack of sitting, sloppy paint apps, loose joints, but things are looking to improve at a very fast rate. We are already seeing retooled crotches that some like & some don't, but still makes Joe more functional for other future developments. We have been promised vehicles, new Comic 2-packs with new comics, 4 Figure Battle Packs series, tons of new singles & more. Joe hasn't been this activated in a long a time as far as variety. Something I hope we will all be happy with in 2008.
It is no secret that Hasbro is USING THE SAME FORMULA for Joe that made Transformers so huge in 2007. Transformers continued with it's Classics Line (A classically flavored update line that featured vintage favorites.) They followed that up with a Convention in RI, that catered highly to fan appreciation with lontime favorite guests a concert, highly desirable exclusives, & then a chance for a sneak peak at their new blockbuster 2007 movie that was the catalyst for a future big boom. The Movie then entered the mainstream & was immensely successful, & got kids back on board in a bigger way, causing the figures to sell out completely at many retailers. They follow that with an animated series, done by CN in Western Style, to diverge from their previous anime works of th e past few years & give it a decent timeslot on the providing network. Trust me when I say this is the formula that is being used RIGHT NOW on Joe. Classic inspired line full of fan faves, Big Budhget Movie in 2009, most likely followed by an animated series, & I would be willing to bet the Joe Con will be in RI in 2009 as well.
I know there were a few hits along the way, for Sigma Six fans, it meant the end of the line, there was a few hiccups with the exclusives at Joe Con, but it's nice to see that 2007 will be more memorable for the good things 25th Joe brought, & the future it has before it...
So this thread is here from me to say "Thanks, I really enjoyed this year with G.I. Joe", & it's fandom here on the HISSTANK, & new friends that I have made, I would love to hear other's responses to what they thought of the Brand in 2007.
I think it is only the beginning for MANY good things!
...& I appreciate you reading this.

I echo all that you mentioned. I haven't been this excited about anything Hasbro was doing for years. Granted the SW line is intermittently collectible, but nothing tops the excitement of seeing those Joe cards back on the pegs after 20+ years! Oh, how you've been missed!
I'll admit, when this line was first announced and I saw the prototypes I was excited, but I'd been burned before by such re-do's/reboots, so I decided skepticism was best. However, once the line showed up on pegs, I quickly realized that you never stop being a Joe fan, ever. You never really lose the excitement and nostalgia of being 10 yrs old and getting a butt load of new Joes for X-mas, or seeing new Joe product on the pegs right alongside all of the other lines that people have grown to adore.
I just hope that Hasbro has major plans for Joe in 2008 to match or exceed the current level of fan excitement. They have a chance right now to capture lightning in a bottle, and if they continue doing things they way they are, they're going to be getting more than just my money. They'll be earning my respect and a customer for life.

I stumbled upon these new Joes by accident on Rebelscum one day and am glad I was able to partake in a great year for collecting! I hadn't bought a Joe since 1988 and I am happy to be back into it yet again. This new line gave me a rush of excitement that I had not had since the POTF2 SW figures debuted in Summer '95. As long as we get quality product and characters from '82-'91 I am on board for the long haul. Happy New Year everybody!

Honestly I hope someone involved with the powers that be at Hasbro reads this thread. I consider it kind of a nice thank you to them for putting out THE BEST action figure line of 2007, in my humble opinion.
Now bring on the 2008 25th Joes!!

I started re-familiarizing myself with Joes early this year (an interest which was sparked, interestingly enough, by the Classics Starscream that I saw, bought, and fell in love with last year), trying to obtain all of the figures that I could never get but always wanted as a kid, and obviously, spending a good chunk of money in the process.
Then, I ran across the pictures of the 25th anniversary pictures online on Hasbro's website, and I couldn't wait for their release. They seemed too good to be true. I ordered the 5 packs from smalljoes.com, and they were everything that I hoped that they would be. Following this, I've been a compulsive 25th anniversary Joe-seeker, obtaining nearly every one of these brilliant toys, and experiencing joy as each new wave was announced. These figures are one of the best things about 2007 to me. Thanks Hasbro! Yo joe!

I never thought I'd ever buy toys again... I was wrong. These are the best action figures out there...
However I do have one small complaint. It's a good thing I don't "play" with them anymore because they are a tad bit flimsy, loose and somewhat fragile. I can't tell you how many times Gung-Ho has tipped over because his legs are loosy-goosy. But as display pieces, they work perfectly.
But all in all, these guys are cool.

2007 has been great but I can't imagine the greatness in store in 2008.
I mean 12 inch figures, vehicles, movie buzz, and more!

The 2007 25th line has been peppered with greatness...and not so greatness.
great...the 25th packaging...flawless. Looks great on the wall and allows cheap-o guys like myself to have a sealed collection without the extreme $$ involved in collecting the sealed originals.
Not so great...figs...not a fan of many of them. The availability and price gouging is also complete crap. Hunting is a chore and most of the time you get nothing for your trouble while others get cases and cases to hack-sell on eBay.
