Glad the unpleasantness is over. Personally, I do think that the reason for the falling in vintage prices is due to the 25th line. The lack of decline in TF prices is an good indicator, since they are comparable goods in the sense that they are bought by similiar groups of people. Also, there are a number of people who want to display the figures they buy, vs needing to own a vintage figure, and let's face it, the superior looking 25th line displays far better, at a cheaper price. That being the case, like any good, when there is a decline in the quantity demanded, the price of that good falls.

Worthy to note is the quality of the figs... I would much prefer to display a vintage TF than a vintage joe. The 25th line pretty much made the original joes unappealing to me to add to my collection. TFs will always be awesome in my eyes and remaking them 25 years later in their original format still has a huge market. Sure there's a 25th ann line of TF figs, but it's just not comparable to the remaking of the joes.

One thing to consider though folks, if the prices fallout too much, people will stop offering them for sale, which in turn could make it harder to find, and when that is the case prices may begin to rise again. It's happened before, I am sure it will happen again.
I am all for cheap prices, but not at the expense of the hobby. Fair prices yes, cheap or clearance no. No one makes money on cheap or clearance. If no one makes money, no one goes through the trouble of selling. So please be careful what you wish for. Imagine if you worked for a car manufacturer and the general public said that will only pay a certain price. To get to that price the car company has to sacrifice quality and cut down the work force, which means you could then lose your job. Everyone loses. Not to get too political, not choosing sides (There are to be no "sides" in a union), but look at the economy today and the unemployment rate. We all just have to start looking at the big picture, from our lives all the way down to our favorite hobbies yea? OK, enough of that crap, who wants to party! woo hoo!

Collecting the 25th figures has rekindled my interest in the vintage stuff. I like both but I'd rather display a vintage Duke over a 25th one. So if the bottom is dropping out on the vintage stuff shoot me a PM I'll gladly take it off your hands

B.A.T. - It seems like every single post you put up in every single thread has some sort of derogatory or negative comment directed at another board member. And each post almost always has profanity in it. This time it was directed at one of my comments and I did not appreciate having my opinion belittled in such a fashion. I have no interest in stating anything further on the matter or starting a flame war. But, I did want to let you know that by being more thoughtful and less sardonic in your comments you might win more friends on the Tank.
If you understood the point of what I said you wouldn't have taken it personally. That's where reading comprehension comes in. I said "my ass", you can hear worse on prime time TV. Get over yourself! Last edited by B.A.T.; 02-04-2009 at 12:55 PM.. |

I think one of the biggest reason I like the 25th Collection is how it is affecting the Vintage Joes. I just watched a Battle Bunker AFA graded 80 go for 35 bucks and loved every minute of it. I have been watching these sorts of auctions ending with similar results, I mean god forbid they make an Attack Glider (I pray everyday they do) I mean those things are 4k each WTF anyway watching the Vintage fangs end at 15 bucks with no bids to me is just great. I hate the markup you see in these AFA Joes I mean I AFA but to see that someone wants 4k for a glider? I like to AFA just to protect my figures or Vehicles and that’s it.
