As we all know, some regions of the country are getting waves 2 and 3 in their local Targets/WM. For those of us in the not so luck regions, we read about and see the new waves getting gobbled up. To that I say bravo to those who got the new figs and advise those who have not to be patient. What I can't tolerate are the scalpers who go into the stores and buy up every case of figures and then turn around to sell them on eBay at a huge mark-up. I would not pay their scalpers prices for any of these figures, but this is not where I have the problem. My issue lies with them buying up all of the product so that the average onsie twosie collector never even sees the figures. I don't rant and rave on here much but this is just frustrating. The sAd thing is, if the buyers on eBay didn't reinforce by buying the scalper figures, it would probably deter them. I'm off my soap box now, but I know I'm not the only one who feels this way!

The thing about scalpers is that they can't sell them if you don't buy them. And with so many stores getting movie figures, it is unlikely that they will be able to buy ALL the stock. Eventually, they have to return them if they don't sell - usually within 30 days - and then you will see a flood of figures back at your stores. So the secret to beating scalpers is patience. Hasbro can always make more but if people don't buy the figures, it is unlikely that the scalpers have enough income to just sit on case upon case of GI Joes. Also, remember that Hasbro has already said that wave 4 will be made up of hard to find wave 2.5 figures.

Well, my theory is that the scalpers buy up stock now that the figures are relatively fresh in the stores and not under nationwide distribution.
Fans are eager to get them and some are willing to pay a prime price to get the figs early, too. I'm quite positive that the figures will be available all over the States and in decent quantities so that the scalping of Retaliation figures will end soon. At least you guys live in a country where Hasbro sells the figures. We Europeans have to privately import every figure, because Hasbro doesn't sell them over here. So stop bitching and do it like we do: find a nice person who helps you acquiring the figures. |

Sometimes I wish there was an Internet store that sold entire waves.

I think the whole concept of scalpers in terms of movie figures is a myth.
Exhibit A: These figures aren't even "technically" supposed to be out yet, the official street/release date is tomorrow, so if you can't find them after tomorrow this argument starts to become more valid. B: These figures have been available for preorder for regular retail price online now, for many months, in fact if you factor in the cost of gas, time, etc. you may actually even save money ordering them this way. Not only that, but if you ordered from Dorkside Toys you could have had them back in 2012! C: Scalping is simply an attempt to sell something at higher than retail. You don't buy it, and their business no longer works. I assure you with these being the first actual movie accurate figures, you can expect to see them in HUGE quantities in the coming weeks, and will have no trouble finding them.

The thing is though, most collector's are buying these, not scalpers. Im not saying there arn't scalpers buying these as well but there is a lot more collectors in the game now I feel, and since we have all passed on things in the past only to find out later we should of nabbed it while we had the chance, i feel people are more eager to buy as much as they can afford or maybe a little extra then they normally would, its just excitement.
Like everyone else said, just be patient and we will find out how good retaliation will flood stores or not. But either way, with all the people on the tank, it's not hard to find someone on here to help you out.

The street date is suppose.to be the 10th and scalpers have been around since the beginning. Beat them at their own game is the key. Get to the store at 9, etc.

i know, man, if only there was an ad for one of these stores, like, say, on the sidebar of this very website.
