I had no interest in Joe figures until the 25th line abolished the O ring. The figures felt weird in my hand, like they were always on the cusp of breaking- even if they weren't, the rubber band's tension made it feel that way. I also didn't like the way it looked.
I do have some loose leg figures, mainly my Cobra troopers that get posed most often, and while I wish it wouldn't happen, it's not unique to Joe. It's a problem with action figures as a whole, and mostly unavoidable.

I had a post yesterday about the loose leg syndrome and there were a few good ideas on making the hips and leg joints tighter. I agree that the O-Ring design was great and of course I think the back screw design was much easier to customize and repair then the new 25th line. And as far as the wiggly legs go I have at least 5 or 6 figures whose legs were wiggly out of the package and that is very frustrating.... AHHHH

I can't say I miss the O-ring. It broke, the waist joint was too loose always, and it just felt flimsy.
On the other hand, the back screw should have been kept to allow easier customizing for the figures. Thats the only real loss IMHO.
Despite actively playing with the joes for over a year in many cases, the only loose hips I have on any of them are Gung-ho (which, given otehr comments) seems to be a universal problem with the mold.
A lot of people contribute the lack of hip mobility (ie. sitting position) to the lack of O-ring. That isn't true. It isn't as good because the waist piece has a front edge that drops down farther than the originals. If you compare, the waist piece ended at the top of the legs, the new ones come down further to cover the first few millimeters and give a more natural look for the legs. The asthetic design they attempted is what makes sitting difficult. If they were to cut the waist piece a little higher, the legs could easily get into a sitting position.
Even as it is, if you put the legs as high as they will go, and adjust the torso-joint forward, you'll have a pretty good sitting position as most chairs in Joe cant backwards anyway.

I do agree with the missing screw, as you cannot take the bodies apart anymore unless you want to saw them in half.
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

They should make the back screw instead of glue.
