Today I was in Target and happened to stumble upon the Pyramid of Darkness set and I was overjoyed(I haven't seen them anywhere). So a dude had to crush that excitement. He was looking at the military toys and picked up some different brands and then he got to the Joes. He just looked at them in disgust and said these are overrated. He then started to pick them apart and see what was wrong with them.
I then began to think. There are plenty of issues especially for the price. On a some of the figures the paint applications are not so great, some joints are loose, a lot of repaints, extreme reuse of parts, same characters are made over and over again, the helmets sometimes don't fit on the head properly, and in some cases they break easily. Don't get me wrong I love Joes just as much as the next guy and spend ALL of my spare cash on Joes. Personally I don't think they're overrated but there's some issues with them. What do you think.... Are GI Joes overrated? |

I love them, but I do think they are overrated. The articulation are not as good as the originals. I can't do the splits. I can't sit them on a chairs. They can't hold their guns. The waist are not as flexible as they where before. Overall they are not as playful as they where when I was a kid. But since I collect for nostalgia and they do look cool. I'll keep buying them.

Lots of things are overrated, especially toys. Most of the complaints I see about Joes can be applied to many other toys too both old and new.
I still love them, but then I also love transforming rocks |

joes are the best, i agree they are not as playfull as the vintage but we are older now so they dont need to be. there the best military toy there is and nothing compares to them. dont let some guy you ran into at the store make you question your hobby bro. you like joes and so do all of us here on the tank. that guy doesnt know what he is talking about.

There are some other lines that look more detailed but their flexibility and poseability are almost nill. Joes are there for most of us for nostalgia purposes and reconnecting to our youths. And compared to joes of 15-20 years ago this 25th line is so much more detailed. Yeah there are flaws but most of us love these Joes in spite of those flaws, thats why we buy them and then bitch unmercilessly when they dont meet our now high standards! lol

Joes are the best looking military figs is 3 3/4, but for their price and to be made by hasbro, they are severely lacking in a lot of areas. If it were not for nostalgia sake I would only pick up a few. Hasbro needs to take notes from their GI Joe customizers. I've saw some amazing customs.

the 25th are a great nostalgia nod to better days past.
no, they don't look as realistic as the mcfarlane figs, but the 25th are about all the fun of the toys, the cartoon, childhood imagination, the great 80's. that's what i'm buying. how can you over-rate that? |
