Looking to fill a couple of holes in my collection and it seems like all the prices are insane? $60 for Temple Guardian SE, $50 for Money Bags Destro, $40 for Rock Viper, $35 for Crazy Legs??? WOW...

Well, not all POC was rare. The first waves were ridiculously abundant. I'm still finding the earlier POC figures. The ones you list were less evenly distributed in the later waves, therefore rarer. I did see the TG SE peg warming at Target, but never the other figures. City Strike Destro I saw once at a Walgreens and I bought him. I also bought the only Rock Viper I ever saw, at TRU. Crazy Legs I've passed on three times: twice at TRU and once at CVS.

Money Bags Destro was the only half-decent figure in that list. Everyone passed on the rest in stores because they were mediocre at best... I would have never said that Temple Guardian SE would go for $60 months ago when I was staring at 5 of them collecting dust at Walmart

PoC really wasn't nearly as rare as people make it out to be (and I still suspect we got quite a bit of wave 6 waiting for a venue to flood the market like wave 5 did). First two waves were ridiculously abundant, and the first two waves of 2011 saw hefty carryover well into summer (except for...Money Bags Destro and Karate Kick STorm Shadow) in at least two revision cases. I'm still of the view all fuss over wave 6 is largely due to a lack of new Joe product to tie up interest. I don't see any reason than PERCEIVED rarity for Temple Guardian SE to be $60 dang dollars.

loose or carded?
There all are sort of rare, but among GI JOE collectors they are not. Places like Toysrus, Wallgreens,Rite Aide all still carry G.I JOE POC and 30th. Your not likely to run out and find the figures on your list but it is achievable through semi-normal retail means. Allot of people speculate that there is still more POC wave 6 to come which would include your Rock Viper, TG SE and Crazy Legs. You might be better off making a buy list here on the tank than dealing with Ebay. But I am sure allot of people here might offer you them at the same prices. Which I have no control of.

Well pretty much after wave 2 there were almost NO sightings of any of the later waves and what sightings there were were few and far between. And we have over saturation of core characters and case revisions and short packs to thank for that.

They were rare in the wild because of distribution and stores simply not ordering because of the glut of movie toys.

Basically?
Low-Light, Moneybags Destro, General Hawk, Crazylegs, and Rock Viper are kinda rare, because they only saw distribution in one assortment and were never included in revision cases or repacks. Everything else is relatively plentiful with maybe Shadow Tracker and a couple others being a little bit harder to find/more scarce than others. |
