I am finally getting shelves firmly collection assembled, and the space I have is a little darker than I'd like. So I thought about buying some LED tap lights from Target that I can stick underneath each shelf to shine on the space below. Will LED lights hurts figures? I know sunlight will, but I have never heard anything negative about any other light. Still thought I'd ask just to be safe. Thanks!
Btw, here are the lights I'm looking at: Target Mobile Site - Energizer Compact LED Tap Light - 1-pk.

I believe UV is the big one. Don't know what LEDs will do, other than light them up

I don't think LEDs will harm the figures. You should be good. Thhrow up some pics when your set up is done.

Laser?
No Python Puckman is right its UV. If you keep them out of direct sunlight you will be good. The other issue might be with the heat that something like halogen might generate. LED is a great option. Cowboy

UV is the only one that will cause exposure damage. Incandescent is best, have no clue what LED would do.

Commercially available LEDs should be UV-free. Ideally you'd want the kind with phosphor coatings that simulate a soft white, rather than the harsh blue-white in most "white" LEDs.
Stay away from fluorescents, including CFLs, for display purposes. While current quality levels is leaps and bounds over the older stuff, they still emit UV. A small amount compared to direct sunlight, but enough to cause discoloration over time. |
