What I find interesting about this particular thread is that we are totally polarized as a GI Joe community.
There are those of us who reject the movie toys for whatever legitimate, personal and/or justifiable reason, and our opinions are relegated as "whining" by the folks who think we should all just shut up and buy them. Well, to the movie loyalists, I say "nuts!" I am not gonna buy this movie stuff no matter how stupid you try to make me feel. Hasbro's sojourn into movie land really has inspired me to save my money, and the personal attacks toward me and other GI Joe fans only further convince me to save my money. |

The funny thing is Bayformers and Animated have saved me so much money in the last couple of years, Hasbro is helping me out even more in these bad economical times with this line. Even less for me to buy saves me money.

all the anger and venom directed at the movie and all things connected to it clearly reflect individuals whose identity is too tied to those plastic figures and that is why they are so emotionally effected by the deviation from the original ideas that is being developed with the movie. and that anger is exhibited by who...the people who are so vocal in their whining against the movie. how you could miss something so self evident is rather dumbfounding. the intense emotional reaction from those who hate it clearly reflects a more ingrained personal connection with the brand. nice try, back to Psyche 101 for you. |

Whatever. The movie loyalists' inappropriate choice of words further promotes our beliefs. As if name-calling, elitism and denigration is going to convince me to buy this stuff. |

actually, it is quite the opposite. those who don't construct their images around the plastic figures are more likely the open minded individuals who are willing to wait and see the movie, because if the movie sucks, it won't bother them in the least beyond the poor entertainment value.

I dont want the movie to suck but I think it will....Half of the bashing about the movie I always say is just to get a rise out of people who swear its going to be the bestest movie EVER!!! Its funny because Ive seen some people just seem to get hurt because we dont support Everything Joe....."How Dare you say it will suck" is what I seem to see on here. What Original ideas do you mean the movie has? Power Suits...Many Power Ranger Eps have them...The Nano mites? I could name 6 films that have those very concepts...this movie is as original as my first crap of the morning. We all have a personal connection to Joe...we grew up on it...played with them...had fantasy battles in our rooms or backyards..if we didnt have a personal connection with them we wouldnt be in our late 20s or early, late 30s still buying them and modding them.....customizing them, or talking about a movie. One reason you have a movie is because of us...the fans..... |

if a bad movie and some bad toys are all it takes to make some of you quit, then awesome. it can't happen fast enough.
I like G.I. Joe. i like the characters, and the history. I've been on since the beginning, and it's going to take more than a few figures here and there to make me "quit" liking it. I didn't like the animated movie, I didn't like the dic series and i didn't like the neon 90's, but i never quit. so yeah, the absence of fair weather fans will mean i'll have an easier time finding new figures. I said that a bit sarcastically, but seriously, the Joe movie really is a make or break kinda deal for the GI Joe. If the movie and associated toys are a bomb, we can pretty much kiss the modern line goodbye. Copperhead, I love GI Joe too. That doesn't mean I ought to settle for, as Shin put it, "shit on a shingle". These figures suck. They don't make me quit liking GI Joe, but they will make me stop buying new product. And my guess is, you won't have ANY problem finding movie figures, given what we've seen. Enjoy...
