Have you seen the absurd $9.89 (or close) price at Target?
This weekend one of the Targets in my area (central Ohio: Polaris Pkwy) had single figs at $9.89 (with tax that makes it about $10.60). I had a Blowtorch in my hand but left him once I saw that price. The staff there told me "It's a demographic thing" meaning that the relatively wealthy area of Polaris merits them raising the prices $3 each. By that wouldn't a poor area mean they should be $3 less? Also Target won't price match other Targets at $6.84, nor would they believe me when I mentioned Walmart is also $6.84. I could have bought him and got a price adjustment later but I didn't want to validate that price by buying anything marked up that high. The line to complain was 10 peole deep and not moving so I just left and washed my hands of that location from here on out. I know this price has been seen here and there, but I am just curious how many of us 'tankers have actually seen it in person.

It is this way at the Target in Yukon, OK. They gave me the same line about it being a "demographic thing", but I think that is something they are programmed to say about any price variance. I even pointed out the fact that the single carded figures are the same price as the comic packs and just got a shrug of the shoulders.
So now if I find a fig I can't live without at this location, I buy it and then pick up a random Joe fig at Wal-Mart or another Target and return it to the original Target with the receipt. |

Well it's the first time I've seen any Target in this area vary from a standard price - which has been the same as your shops, $6.84 for a while now.

Highest I've seen here in VA is $7.99 before they came back down into the $6.89 range (to compete w/ Walmart). They were $4.99 back in Nov-Dec.

I am going to Target right now and I will see if there has been a price increase from the last time I was there.

I have not seen it. In my area singles should not even be 7.99 to begin with. That price should be for the Up North area of my state, which I considered to be the place where the rich folks hang.

In NorCal (Sacramento area) you can find them for $6.40 in most of the Targets, but if you drive into the City of Sacramento they are around the $9 range...not even 20mins drive.
