I walked through the isles at my local Wal-Mart, and they had taped up the "confidential" toy reset sheets. These sheet referenced resets in March and May. They just looked like emails or something; most of them were diagrams while a few were actual explanations. The explanation sheet in the action figure isle had no reference to GI Joe or the upcoming GI Joe movie.
The first paragraph was about how they were focusing on Backugan this time around. The second paragraph, they mention a March reset in which Hulk would be gone, Iron Man would be greatly reduced, and Wolverine Origins would be the focus. Then, they said there would be another reset in May which would focus on Transformers 2. They said it would be the hottest movie of the summer. Sadly, there was no reference made to the GI Joe movie or new figures. The diagram taped up at the end of the isle had a similar configuration to what is up now: five pegs for Combat Heroes, 4 pegs for Single Carded figures, and 3 pegs for comic packs. There was room below for a small vehicle and a large vehicle (which offers some hope). Let's hope stores decide to dedicate to more space to GI Joe over the next few months.

Why would they mention a movie that doesn't come out until august?

Only if Hasbro planned on pushing toys this early... which isn't likely. On a plus note, Wolverine Origins Figures should be plentiful. Maybe I'll see a Deadpool hanging on a peg before its all done.

I think Target chose to have GI Joe as their big thing this year, just like they did with Transformers in 2007. Plus the Joe movie stuff most likely will not be out until the beginning of July as the mvoie does not come out until Aug.

Did it say anything like "flex" on the sheet.
When i worked at Kmart there was always a flex section which was not specifically defined what would go in them, and was for the specific store's discression. Presumably joes could go there. |

I did not see anything that said flex. The GI Joe section was clearly marked.
Gunzlinger is probably right, though. Maybe there will be a little more action closer to the release date. I guess I was just disappointed that Wolverine and Transformers 2 was mentioned without GI Joe being mentioned. They are planning for Wolverine and Transformers like five or six months in advance. Why not GI Joe which is released five weeks later later?

I'm sure there will be a huge product push for the movie, but it is unlikely to happen by May.
