I was surprised at some of the final prices of modern figures I had on an auction recently. I started the auctions at .99 cents and most bid went up close to $20 and a few even more. These are loose figures too.
Is this a recent trend or are they recent POC, 30th, figures just tapped out at retail? |

It is probably because there is zero Joe product out in stores (other than Walgreens and Dollar General). I also think with Ross/TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Big Lots not getting any Joes in is a factor as well.
I also expect Joes to go up in price after Retaliation hits in March. I think Retaliation will do a lot better than ROC.

I think PoC and 30th just didn't get the distribution they should have. In my experience, all of PoC goes for pretty high numbers outside of Desert Duke, Arctic Destro, Jungle Viper and Croc Master (and those horrid kicking action ninjas).
Hell, it's been so good I've actually been thinking about selling my complete PoC collection. |

Not surprising given the lack of Joes at retail. A lot of collectors are using the lull in hunting to fill holes in their collections via the secondary market.

That sounds about right.
Last time I was selling stuff was when Rise of Cobra was out and I guess that stuff was all over the place. |

Soundwavempl hit the major point though: Right now, there is really nothing new to grab collectors (especially casual, retail-centric collectors). Collectors have traditionally been driven by "ooh, new toy", and when there isn't, they tend to either: take a break or seek older products. And with how relatively little GI Joe has been produced, there is a lot of pent up and unmet demand. I fully expect prices on some stuff to fall once Retaliation toys hit shelves (maybe not a LOT, but I don't see stuff like Skydive holding a $20+ price)
