That is why like I said what these people are looking intergrity is a dead thing. They want there to be higher standard for collectors but that is gone with the blessings of ebay come the curses. People charging 15.00 for shipping for a figure that weighs nothing charging hundreds what they paid cause they can. intergrity is a dead thing this how things are just don't buy.

I remember wasting my money buying all those damn Phantom Menace figures. Worst return on my investment ever. (They probably have gone up since I got rid of them, my luck.)
I ended up giving them to two needy families I knew. So at least I know they went to a good home.

Know what helped me overcome the frustrations of being a collector?
Might sound funny, but I stopped hunting so much. Seemed like the more I hunted for stuff, the more infuriating it was to come up empty handed again and again (since I kept wasting time and gas doing so). It amazes me that people have time/ energy to hit thirty stores a week. That crap was killing me when I did it. Now, I probably only hunt maybe once per week (if that), and I've managed to find everything I'm looking for at some point. And I'm not an extremely lucky person. Not even moderately lucky. Sometimes, I think people just have to let their collecting obsessions go, even if it means not having the "hot" item right now. I haven't even bothered looking for wave 5 yet. Or wave 4. I love my Joes as much as the next guy (my army started in '83 and now stands at 3,000 strong), but I refuse to devote hours of my life to it every week, especially when it only ends in anger. |

If you look at your self a collector then their is a difference between you and a scalper. That is like saying a drug dealer is the same as a phamrcuetical company. That is also supply and demand. When you here people complaining about over charging they are saying the seller is lacking integertiy. I know that the scalper is saying owe it is supply and demand . The point I was making is from collector stand point they lack integrity .

Still have all of my Episode I stuff, too, and I'm sure it's "worth" a lot less than what I put into it, but I love those figures. I have no interest in ever selling them.

this whole flipper/ scalper debate is a neverending issue. I buy some stuff to sell and fund other items in my collection with the money. i also buy joes off of ebay all the time. I dont mind paying extra because it saves me time and im lazy as hell. I dont see this ever ending. I preorder everything i want and usually never cancel the items because who knows if one day i may want more than one. I troop build and i know some people consider that greedy, but i dont care because im the one who is laying out the cash.
It all comes down to different strokes for different folks. If you dont like scalpers then dont buy from them. or beat them at their own game and go to walmart at odd hours. It works for them.
