So I was looking at the HISS and I realized that it's kind of "plain" when next to the Sting Raider, Ghost H.A.W.K., V.A.M.P., R.A.M. and Armadillo (all of which got some new detailing.
So why were some vehicles given more of an overall compared to others? I think it makes the non-overalled vehicles look dated. I don't like the MOBAT at all. Yeah, it's cool that it's the same as the one I had as a kid (and still have) from back in '82/'83; but it just looks dated. The way Steeler fits in the tank just doesn't look cool anymore. The HISS was always a plain looking tank, but now it's even more so when put next to the other vehicles that got more detailing and new touches. Can tell the '08 V.A.M.P. is more modern and better then the '82 V.A.M.P.. Can tell that the toy-making technology has come a long way and can produce better vehicles. It's cool seeing the vehicle of old compared to the vehicle of today and seeing that it's the same but only better. Then you got the HISS and MOBAT. They're kind of blah.

i agree that they are dated. i always loved the hiss tank though. the mobat is just horrible. along with the 25th cobra claw are the worst things we have gotten from hasbro.

well, i think the idea was to test the waters. see how fans reacted to the vehicles and improve and put more effort as interest was proven.

Out of every vehicle off the top of my head, from the "glory days" of '82-'86 or so, the HISS and the MOBAT were probably the ones that most needed a revamp. Really we could have gotten the same VAMP and it wouldn't have been bad at all, but the HISS's ugly blocky "tracks" look bad compared to the rest of the vintage tanks, and the MOBAT suffers from not having enough room to pose figures - a few opening hatches would have been great.

The only one I'm really disappointed in would be the CLAW. I still can't believe that they would release something that seams like a prize from a drop claw machine!
I'm looking forward to the new designs. Clearly they know that folks are excited about the vehicles and I think we'll continue to see that rewarded |

The HISS is a vehicle Hasbro knows so well they could carve it out of wood. I wasn't thrilled when the Wave 1 Vehicles had a Hiss that was only modified in a way too get 25ths too fit in the cockpit. I was hoping for something cool like a drop down seat from the cockpit (like in the comics)
Oh well, the Hiss will continue on continuing on as the same thing we got 25 years ago

Because the first two 5-packs were originally planned to be all that Hasbro produced for the 25th anniversary. But they were so successful that Hasbro decided to continue the line, and add vehicles and such.

I am kinda ashamed of the mobat and rattler, they look so out of place because of their scale next to all the other vehicles. Also, I love the fang ( always did!) but the blade is like an inch from the pilots head. Kinda like that chopper in mad max.LOL
