I can go out to any store right now and find several CC and Viper (exception TARGET where everyone bought up the $4.99 figs just to return later when they buy new figs.) I so hope they all look at their receipts and realize they missed the last return date by 1 day... haha.

That is a good point except for 1 major fgure named DR. MINDBENDER. He should have been made long ago. I agree we are getting greedy now with wants of Thrasher, Wet suit etc. In reality, there is no reason not to make them if your Hasbro. We as fans and collectors have proven that we will buy anything. We wll buy 14 different CC's and Destro's. We will buy dozens of the same trooper body in multiple colors. We will buy unpopular figures like Tripwire. Hell we will even buy awful ugly looking comic 2 pack figures of CC/Duke and SS/SE. We will even buy carded figures of box set figures we already own because they are "diffrent". So just keep making figures and we will buy them.

Yeah last year was a great one to be a joe collector. I don't remember buying that much action figures since I was a kid. I used to be a casual action figure collector until the 25th line arrived to retail stores. It got me hooked as a collector because of all the characters they have released so far. I never have the opportunity when I was a kid to got some of the the cool core and secondary joe characters like 1984 Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes w/Timber, Duke, Destro, etc. Hasbro make a childhood dream come true with it. I hope Hasbro keep making this toyline until 2012 so we can get almost all the vintage characters, vehicles and playsets updated.

Also I remember Battle CC being pretty well sought after Sounds like Hasbro was mostly right when they said CC, SE and Duke are core characters that have to be on the shelves all the time (I don't think Duke was ever sought after ) |

So was the wave 1 Snake-Eyes, but then all of a sudden he was deemed rare and worth upwards of $30-$40 (Regular version not black Timber)

yeah so far every duke has warmed the pegs but I think wave 13 Duke will change that. In my area none of the SE's have hung around that long and as for BA CC, I never saw that entire wave 6 until the revision waves came out. I'm 100% convinced that the midwest got as little as 1 or 2 shipments of the the wave 6 run. We went from wave 5 straight to wave 7.

The simple fact is as much as we buy it's nothing compared to what kid's and their parents buy for them. If it was solely a collectors market they'd do something similar to what Mattel did with MOTU. Set up an online portal. Do slow releases and charge a very high premium for them to offset the production costs.
Hasbro floods the market with the core characters because they are the essence of the GI Joe brand. A brand they are trying to get into the hands of children. To make them passionate for this line. Without the core characters in each line they lose this opportunity to display their brand to a new market share.

So 2008 is over and so is a full year of collection the 25th anniversary figures. The 25th line proved to be worth the hype and is considered to be the best line since the classic 82-87 line. We saw many great figures from the days of old reissued such as the B.A.T. (my personal favorite), Eel, Viper, Cobra Trooper, Airborne etc.. Its also quite obvious, that these toys really wern't designed with children in mind. I would have went nuts when I was kid with how easily allot of the parts can be lost. Is it just me, or are there other people out there who scream everytime the goggles fall off of the Cobra Viper. These figures also proved that they can easily be broken. I must have tore off at least five hands and arms while trying to articulate my figs. I havn't been this frustrated since I kept on breaking the thumbs off of my classic figs. Although I love the majority of the figues in the 25th line, I have to ask, do we really need all the differant versions of Duke, Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and Destro? And why is there a pilot Scarlett being made before Dr. Mindbender, Raptor, Airtight, Footloose, Recondo or Wetsuit? Really, doesn't it make more sense to put Dr. Mindbender in the "Arise Serpentor Arise" DVD set than say Montezzuma's skeleton. I know that the 25th line isn't going to run forever, especially with the movie on the horizon, so lets hope that Hasbro pumps out at least another dozen or so figures that we really want. Im sorry, but Red Star was never at the top of anyones list. So what are your true thoughts on the 25th line.
as far as the DVD packs go, i liked the skeleton would have loved to see a Mindbender packed in instead of the BAT, maybe a instead of CC in the Pyrmid of Darkness pack they could have given us a new Shipwreck or maybe a generic Cobra Officer, but no such luck. Hasbro will always give us core characters along with new figures in battlepacks because it forces us to buy them. i hope they continue the 25th line along with the movie line, there are so many figures that still need to be made, Sgt Slaughter, Lifeline, Low Light, Mercer, Cobra La, maybe the rest of the October Guard.
