Also am / was a huge Star Wars collector, until I felt that Hasbro was taking advantage of me with putting out the exact same figures but with differant packaging. Dialtone, Zandar, Zarana, Thrasher, Monkeywretch and Lineline, those are some other figures I would have liked to have before the ugly Serpentor that came with the vehicle pack.

I think it's funny we're down to complaining about zandar and dial-tone.I think hasbro has done an outstanding job if, out of the 82-87 line, we are complaining that we don't have thrasher.

Just think...you could have no new figures at all.
Hasbro ftw!

Hasbro is in the toy business to make money, and they make product decisions based on a profit model, not on what characters you think you should get. If it was more profitable to never release a duplicate figure, they wouldn't. But, using the same molds and tooling over and over again help maximize their bottom line. If that means longevity and future new tools and molds, so be it. Hasbro is a publicly owned company, and the powers that be have a duty to the shareholders to maximize profit. They are not a benevolent charity that exists to make collector's feel warm and fuzzy.

I agree with Derek - we might think Hasbro is making bad decision and may even rant that we will never buy anything else - but in the end, we buy the Tripwire because we "need" the element he comes with or because we are completists. I'm a casual collector but I have something like 4 or 5 versions of CC, and 2 or 3 of the same Duke with only slight variations. But the thing is - I bought them. Why? They were somehow compelling. And that is a good business strategy. It seems dumb to us, but you don't have to buy them.

I can see the need to case-fill w/core characters. I do like the variations (at least a few) of these characters. However, they had CC peg-warming on every peg then they came out with him and the element accessory. Then you had 2 versions of CC on every peg at the same time.

I've seen very little CC pegwarming in my area.

I'm sorry, what? Taking advantage of you? How can Hasbro take advantage of you? They don't force you to buy anything from them.

They are not a benevolent charity that exists to make collector's feel warm and fuzzy. Since I have an addiction to hunting down and buying every variation of every figure they ever made then you could say they are taking advantage of me as the addiction has made me weak.
