Anyone know how much retailers pay for single figures or vehicles? A source I will not mention told me its around 3 dollars for singles. Anyone know?
Also, do online retailers( such as BBTS) pay the same as Target, walmart, etc?
Just wondering how much they are marked up.

That is a really question. I would say on toys companies like Wal-mart who have major buying power and can buy large quantities probably make about a 30% profit on each figure. They probably buy them at about $4.90/figure.
However on the contrary a small town comic shop would probably get them for much more, like lets say $5.50/figure and therefor sell them for more, for about the same amount of profit if not more.
So online retailers I would say NO as far as getting the same price as a company like Wal-Mart who has a larger wallet.

The more you buy the less you pay in wholesale costs. Wal-mart buys for its entire chain (thousands of stores), probably allocated by territory. They get a much heftier discount.
For example, Hasbro sells Joes for 4.00 bucks a pop wholesale to anyone with an account. So, the comic book store and wal-mart start at the same price, but because wal-mart can buy them by the truckload, they get a reduced price, probably between 2-3 dollars a figure.
This has been discussed numerous times on the forum and i think the actual Hasbro cost per figure, before bulk discount was between $3.25 and $3.50.

i remember seeing somewhere that they were just under 4.00 a figure, but the big companies like walmart and such, im sure get a huge ''bulk'' discount

I used to own a comic book and toy shop a few years back and this was one of the biggest problems retailing toys.
Because I would only buy a case at a time of (then Star Wars) figs I would have to order from diamond distributors, which I believe is a secondary distributors.
I would get 30-35% off of the "suggested retail price" (plus shipping), which is always more then what the major chains sell them for.
For a small specialty stores, profit margins have to be larger because they are moving less product, usually forcing them to mark them above SRP.
Places like Walmart, Target and Toys R Us are able to buy in such quantity that they get a much larger discount.
Being able to move more product (not to mention discounted shipping) means you can make less per item, thus being able to offer a lower price.
I'm not sure of what SRP is for singles, but I'll use $8.99.
I would guess (with shipping costs) large stores are paying $4-5 per figure and your specialty stores $7-8.

It depends. If you deal directly from Hasbro your might be better off...There are distributors too, but it's a bit more expensive, because they have to get their cut. I know right now i'm not dealing with Hasbro, because opening account requires a 5000.00 yes 5000.00 opening order. So i'm going through a distributor. Plus lets face there are retailers who will try to take advantage of people. Angrypanda whoever your source is somewhat right. Walmart, Target they pay around 3.00 - 3.5 per fig. websites and your mom and pop stores pay more.
Hope this helps a little bit.

I'd figure $3 bucks for a single is probably what Hasbro sells them to stores would be correct. Considering it probably costs Hasbro around a dollar to make and package a G.I. Joe figure
Guys you gotta support G.I. Joe or else we won't have G.I. Joe on the shelves and they haven't released Spaceshot. We can't have an anniversary line without Spaceshot!
