Can we get a new terror drome made?

I saw this Castle Grayskull reproduction that is being made by Mattel on BBTS and while I never was a MOTU fan, I think it sounds awesome. They are adding an extra level. It is a preorder and it is $370 but it got me to thinking that maybe one day the Collector's Club could build up to something like this. Now I am ready to face the firing squad here on the tank, but I actually think that maybe one day we could get the club to build a TD and add an extra level where we could add a Cobra Throne room or similar features. I would not mind paying up because the $370 sounds reasonable for what it is. So if there are Collectors Club hierarchy on the boards, I for one would plunk down my cash for a TD or a 1980's headquarters remake as a follow up to the subscription service. What do you think?

Nope.

I hate to be blunt, but the answer is nope.

Unless Joe starts selling hand over fist like crazy big like better than STar Wars sells.

Which I would love to see but be highly suprised.

As for the club, again I say nope...for them to reproduce the Drome would be WAYYY to expensive, and to be honest may improvements would be needed as the original isn't the best quality item in terms of how the plastic is molded.

So nope...great thought but put it to bed.

The Club won't do this. They don't have the resources to do anything like this, it would HAVE to be an initiative from Hasbro (Mattycollector stuff is basically direct from Mattel, no middle man like the Joe and Transformers Collector Clubs)

We'll find out tommorrow how Grayskull plays out. Right now, they still haven't reached the MINIMUM needed to start work on the thing (unlike most preorders, the only thing done for the playset is design work and prototyping stuff, but no tooling or work on it has been done). If one of the most successful online only toylines can't get the interest for its iconic playset...I have doubts of that kind of market.

With the state of the Joe brand, heck, the state of the action figure market, I think efforts like Castle Grayskull are almost the ONLY way for us to see the kind of massive playsets that defined so many classic toylines.

However, I've never seen the Joe fans "step up" when given in-numerous chances over the years, from the 2003 online troop builder sets (took Smalljoes almost a decade to finally clear them out!) to the Hall of Heroes, to the big efforts with Direct to Consumer in 2005 (and I'd argue the Joe collecting community was bigger then than it is now).

A quality Terrordrome or Joe HQ (especially if it was cartoon styled) would be among the VERY few toys that would make me drop 3 digits on a preorder. I just don't have faith that the community would actually step up to make it a reality. And that doesn't even touch any issues with hasbro's reluctance of embracing the DTC market since the flops Hasbro Toy Shop saw in 2005.

there are too many used terrordromes in the wild. I personally have 2 complete for sale and about 8 more almost complete. We have a ton of greyskulls too, but the terrordrome is a toy that came out 4 years into the line, and one of many playsets the joe line produced. for example, we sell 12 greyskulls to every one terrordrome

With the GI Joe Club's FSS figures being over $20 a piece, I would hate to see how much they would charge for a Terrordrome.

How much do you charge for a completed Terrordrome?

Unfortunatly, there are more Star Wars collectors than Joe collecters, so a new terrordrome won't be greenlighted anytime soon. The best we CAN do is look around for a used one or build our own. I've seen some beauts here, including the one I made several years back.
