1985- I got the Snow Cat with Frostbite. My parents got it for me as a present when they went to scope out the new town we were moving to. They used to pick me up something whenever they went out of town and left me with the grandparents. That started it all.

Mine is easy.
1984 - Zartan - Got it because of the color changing and it came with the vehicle.
That's it. The only G.I. Joe that was bought for me.
I did have Xamot (or Tomax, don't remember which twin) and Baroness and Torch... all 3 "acquired" in other methods.

2007 was the GI Joe 5-pack. 2008 was Duke and Cobra Commander V1 comic pack. Can't remember the others.

I can only remember my 1st after that everything else was a blur. Come to think of it, I think we all remember our 1st "everything"? It was 1982 Stalker, w/o swivel-arm battle-grip.

I remember the Joes that I had, but I have a hard time remembering the order in which I got them.

I'm part of the generation that got passed with sh!t, but when I saw Spytroops Duke single with CD ROM and Sound Attack weapon, I bought him.
I began watching the GIJoe reruns on Cartoon Network at 1-3 AM, Usually recording them. Where those blasted tapes are bugs me.
When I started Collecting Vintage Vehicles, my first Vintage being a Mobat in good condition at a yard sale for $1, I realized that I my have been skipped by generation wise, but I can still buy Joe's!
So when the [Somewhat Limited] 25th Ann. Launch came, I bought the GIJoe 5-Pack with money I got by Yardwork from my mom.
I have not nearly all of the Joes that have been made for 25th [now 27th Anniversary], due to my limited funding [Leftover Lunchmoney], and the fact that I don't like most of the Characters [Mainly those Dang Ninjas; Pirates FTW] and the thinking of liking the Cartoon more than the Comics.
Figures that my favorite Character is usually Roadblock, due to his funny lines. Shipwreck also has his fair share of lines.
Still, I know that feeling of your first Joe. Duke still resides on my [unclear] top 10.
And the feeling of my first Joe Aircraft [The Sky Sweeper Stealth Fighter] is good too.

The first Joe I can Remember getting was Wild Bill. When I was four or five I got the Dragonfly for Christmas. I still remember how great it was to fly him around in that awesome machine! Wild Bill started my love affair with GI JOE, and while I wandered through the years, it has always been my first love.
Around the same time I put together my first vehicle. A kid down the street got the ASP, but had no idea how to assemble it. Although I couldn't read, I used the instructions and put that bad boy together myself.
I don't remember getting any other JOES until a year or two later when I got the Night Raven for Christmas. That thing was AWESOME! I was so little and it was so big it was just an extraordinary sight! I flew that thing around the house a million times on all kinds of missions. My favorite features were the pop down cockpit and bomb bay and the opening engine covers.

But looking back, I can see why Ma thought Gung-Ho was "pretty with nice colors". All of my Joes (scave for Scarlett, whom I had regulated to vehicle driving duties) were all painted in identical, drab, GREEN. So to see Gung Ho with his bright blue camo pattern would be a mild spectral improvement.
For some reason I had complete recall of where I got each and every Joe figure or vehicle. About 15 years ago, I realized that info might not last forever, so I went through my file cards and wrote on the back of each one where I got it. Along with who bought it for me, if applicable.
Good thing I did, because while I can still remember the "firsts" of each year, a lot of the ensuing figures are now drawing blanks to me.
Oh, and one addendum to my annual "firsts": in December 1997, I was at a car dealer looking for a new ride. I saw their "Toys for Tots" Xmas tree in the lobby and couldn't believe I was seeing a Duke with a Silver Mirage Motorcycle! I had no idea they were producing re-releases that year. For the next few weeks I tried to find these "new" Joes. Finally wandered into a Toys R' Us in January and found that cheesy "Collectors' Box Set" or whatever it was.

Uhhh...let me think...
1982...Sears Missile Command as a Christmas present.
1983...Destro. Bought at a TRU in California on my very first visit to a TRU ever (they didn't have them where I lived) and I remember an endcap of nothing but 1982/83 Joes. The funny thing is, I spent more money on that trip (was visiting my aunt and uncle, we lived in Arkansas) on Blackstar action figures than anything else.
1984...Firefly. I remember this because I was with my friend Chris Hayes in West Memphis, AR and if I'm not mistaken, he bought Storm Shadow and I bought Firefly, but I REALLY wanted Scrap-Iron from the art on the back of the card. Didn't find Scrap-Iron 'til later at a K-Mart in Kennett, MO.
1985...Crimson Guard at Toys By Roy in the Mall of Memphis, TN.
1986...Viper and BAT double-shot at Wal-Mart in West Memphis, AR.
1989...Destro's Despoiler. Got out of Joes in 1987 thought I had a lot of the stuff, Mamba, Maggot, etc. The Iron Grenadiers pulled me back in for the briefest of moments. The Despoiler was also mistakenly packed with two IG Destros! True story!
Pathetic. I don't remember this much about people I've dated. Sigh.
