There's no joes in my area, so I still can't get anything. I still have not seen waves 10,11,12,or 13 and I'm extremely pissed off. I hate hearing about how the pegs are clogged everywhere else and I can't find Sh*&$! I traded with people here for wave 10 but the other waves I have nothing from(other than airborne which I want 10 of) . So I guess people are buying them...at least here.

I buy two Joes for each of my nephews for Christmas and their Birthday. They LOVE them. For them, the military element can't be beat by any robot or superhero. So there are at least 5 young boys who are definitely into G.I. Joe. My 1 month old son is also a huge collector. Well, his father has started him one, at any rate...

I would say overall, the ratio of kids to collectors isn't where we'd like it to be, but I can tell you several times I've seen kids rifling through the pegs, and looking at the back of the card for other guys they want.

Around here, the local Wal Mart is clogged with pegwarmers- 3 different Commanders, IG Destro, Python Officer, Rock'n'Roll, and HISS drivers to name a few. New figs get snatched up very quickly and I'm lucky to find any. I just found waves 10 and 11 at Kay Bee, which is now going out of business. Other areas of the state get new stuff pretty frequently, just not where I live, it seems. I'd just love to fill a cart with all WM's pegwarmers and either hide it somewhere in the store or push it back into the stock room-"Hey guys, the Joe shelves are empty!!"

While I know in my mind that there are kids that buy these, I have never witnessed a kid in the Joe section ever (since this new line came out back in July of '07). I tend to think that the realistic number of kids buying these (or Mom's buying them for their kids) is only about 10-15%. The rest are bought up by us, the collectors (and scalpers). I think Resolute might change that number just a tad (maybe add a whole whopping 1 or 2% to the mix). The movie is where the kids are going to jump on board. I suspect that even if the movie is only a minor hit that the number of sales by kids will increase from 10% all the way up to maybe the 25% range (if it's a huge hit like Transformers you can expect that number to be closer to 50%). I would wager that 95% of the kids that buy these have a dad or an older brother or an uncle that also buys these and had a major influence on the kid being interested in GI Joe. Your average 6 or 7-year-old that walks by the toy aisle will probably pass by the Joe section right now.
Surprisingly, most Joes are selling in my area. Whether it's kids buying them, collectors and scalpers or maybe customizers.

Advertising! If they don't cater to children in the 5 to 11 age group. They are not going to be interested in something they don't know about, unless, they have a parent that is or was into Joes.
My seven year-old loves Joes and besides a bike and webkinz wants nothing but GI joes for Xmas. His Xmas morning surprises (including my parents): Conquest w/Slipstream Armadillo vs. Air Chariot Target Hiss Night Spectre Ram cycle vs. Flight Pod Sharc w/Deep Six Ultimate Battle Pack Firebat Plus, numerous figures and comic packs The picture is from his Birthday in early November. Yo Joe!! |

I live in Southern Cali and have never once seen a person under the age of 18 purchase any joe related merch, and I'm there at all different times.
