What is the general consensus on the appeal of the packing for the 25th line?
The box design/art is really the whole reason I got attracted to collecting Joes again in the first place. If they hadn't gone with the iconic design there is no way I would have bought one (or.. well all so far). Too many horrid memories of .. well everything since 1994. When I noticed the new figures coming with the white border instead of the silver w/25th logo I was a little disappointed as I thought the silver was a nice touch. Though, in truth it was past the "25th" anniversary so I guess they had to do something eh Now that the Resolute figures are out, with yet another revision to the packaging (which I still bought), how many changes are people going to go with before the figures lose that "nostalgic" quality that caused me to start collecting in the first place? I know for me if they start going with a Battle Corps design or whatever I'm outta here I'm not hardcore into collecting everything *yet..* and really only the 80's era Joes (and new ones inspired by..) appeal to me. I am curious how the movie figure are going to look... but what do you'all think? |

im sure its all part of the plan. they get the old collectors back with the vintage look, then transition into the movie stuff. hopefully retaining a lot of the old collectors as well as gaining new younger ones. It doesn't look too bad. But yea I absolutely loved the silver 25th ones. I am sure that costs extra money too.

the 25th really isnt over. for example techno viper came out in 88 so wouldnt that actually be 21 years ago. depending on what figure came out in which year should depend on the age right? everyone knows g i joe is way more than 25 years old. i have a 40th anniversary shirt from a couple of years back.
they should have made the joes in the original order that they came out, then noone would be forgotten |

I actually prefer the silver to the white border. It was something unique to the line. They could've just dropped the 25th logo and continue with it.

I don't really care about the packaging unless it gets really ridiculous but I like that they went the extra mile to actually make individual cards with character images instead of generic ones.
Through the life of a toy line there are bound to be changes to the package to keep it "fresh" in the eyes of the retailer. (Think the JLU line.) I actually have grown fond of the white border ones since they seem cleaner. Plus they seem to show more of the character art. I compared a HISS tank driver on both cards and the silver card is more of a close up on the image where the white card image is pulled back and shows more of the character. |

considering G.I. Joe is veering away from nostalgia with all new interpretations of the brand with Resolute and the movie (Resolute may be geared towards the adult collector, but it is just as much a new telling of the story as the movie), the packaging will surely reflect this. |

Although in reality I am almost certain that same silver back cost more somewhere down the line. Therefore it was tossed. I mean look at the over all quality of the cards now compared to when the line reappeared with the 25th anniversary. Now the cards are almost paper thin. |

me too... the ''silver backs'' are what attracted me to the line, but, i can understand why it was dropped....i hope they dont change the ''yellow'' cards to green or pink...i would have been happy with all the cards white even, just with the 25th logo on top
