The YF-23 is a pos (looks really foreign) anyway and would rather have an F-22 since it is going to be in the field soon. The YF-23 was a prototype and was passed over once they named the F-22 Raptor. The X-19 wa salso horid, it was way to curvey to a be a true stealth fighter and all of those neon green missles?? Comon! You cold see it glowing int he dark LOL.
For what the Air Force wanted, the YF-23 was the better plane. Sure it was a bit less manueverable on account of no thrust vectoring, but not by much. Aerodynamically the plane was naturally fast, able to ride it's own shockwaves and very, very manueverable. Then again being that Northrop, who created the F-5 family of fighters, and Mcdonnell Douglass, creators of the F-15, collaborated to make the plane as a successor to the F-15, maybe this isn't a surprise. |

From YF-23 Wiki
"The YF-22 won the competition in April 1991. The YF-23 design was more stealthy and faster, but the YF-22 was more agile.[5] It has been speculated in the aviation press that the YF-22 was also seen as more adaptable to the Navy's Navalized Advanced Tactical Fighter (NATF), though as it turned out the US Navy abandoned NATF a few months later.[6] After losing the competition, both YF-23 prototypes were transferred from Northrop to NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center, at Edwards AFB, California. The engines were removed. NASA had no plans to perform flight tests with the airframes, but a proposal was put forward to use one of the two aircraft to study strain gauge loads calibration techniques. The possible production configuration of the F-23A has never been publicly revealed" The F-22 is the new plane |

Love the F-14 Skystriker/Tomcat but G.I. JOE needs a 21st Century multi-role fighter. F-35 & F-22 are better choices. I'd even take a Robotech "Super Valkyrie" which is built off the F-14 frame. But an updated fighter is needed for the Joe's.

I so knew this thread would brake down to a bunch of military tech nerds outdoing each other explaining why this plane was so much better / worst than this one because of this, that, and the other things. Fuck the real world examples / prototypes that failed for whatever reason. I like the way the F-14 looks.

Well, the F-14 would have absolutley zero chance in combat against a F-23, so I'd rather have the F-23.

F-14 TOMCAT/SKY STRIKER----Its been the backbone of the GI JOE RAH line since the 1980s, it should have been back already had it not been for FUNSKOOL. Considering what Supertanker made customwise, this is a no brainer. F-14 TOMCATS rule baby. Yeah, it will be lopsided, its part of a toy line and it is still a kick ass toy. I dont care for the F-22 or the F-35, neither show any attitude. The TOMCAT is intimidating just sitting on the flight deck.

The YF-23 looks like crap.
I rather have the F-14. For a newer one, I'd go for a F22. |

OG all the way!!! It's a classic that still works!!! A little Mod by Hasbro with some added detail and the OG F-14 could ROCK!!!! I mean just look what they did with the WaterMoccasin and the SkyHawk.
