Has ANYONE seen how much revision wave stuff is literally rotting on the pegs right now... with NOBODY interested in buying it. What is worse, is that these were some of the absolute best figs of the 25th line, and the majority of todays crack ed out youth... does not want them.
My local walmarts have pegs and pegs of the same figures that only 6-9 months ago we were all clamoring over, now.. they rot. If core characters in their popular interpretations and styles do not sell..... I dont think that there is a market outside of the 80's kids doing the collecting.. and I hope they realize this soon before they lose tons and tons on the craptastic movie toys. |

I think that once the movie is promoted and kids find it as interesting as "The Hulk" then maybe they will start to purchase them. BUT as from what I have seen, not too many kids are purchasing these figures. I NEVER see anybody in my stores purchasing Joes and if I do see them it's always adult collectors. I think that Hasbro needs to find a way to keep the 25th line the way it is and just have more promotions for the series as a whole.
How about some DVD releses? or TV commercials?! Just like the 80's ones.

WHY DID YOU START TYPING IN ALL CAPS THEN suddenly switch to lower case? I don't like it when you yell.

If they made the episodes more easily accessible, I think more people would be into them. Same is probably true with the comics.

Boy, the generalizations run rampant on this board. Okay folks, let's assume that we don't have 24 hours a day to sit in the toy section of our local WM or Target stores and monitor the buying habits of children and their parents. In other words, we're overtly generalizing with statements like "no kids buy these", etc. Let's also assume that buying habits may have less to do with age than location. Remember the axiom; location, location, location! I'd imagine it applies to Joes also. For instance; some rural areas where the median age is 50-ish probably isn't going to see much brisque Joe sales. However, more densely populated areas with lots of kids and adult collectors milling about might. The point I'm making is that just because Joe's rot at your local store doesn't mean that they do at mine or anyone else's. Nor does it mean that only adult collectors are buying them, as kids impulse buy just as much as we adults do.
The important thing to remind ourselves here is that 25th Joes almost entirely appeal to adult collectors, because we loved them as kids, and they are almost entirely a nostalgia purchase. Oh, and the fact that we buy lots of them with our eagerly lost disposable incomes! They weren't brought back to appeal mostly to kids, nor is that their key demographic currently. Also, the reason they are enjoying such popularity right now is because of we adult collectors, not kids. When and if Hasbro decides to embrace the children of the world through (as was mentioned) a better marketing plan targeting children specifically (which the movie may or may not do), adult collectors shall remain the core audience for the beauties. Does anyone see a problem with that though, really? Not me... |
