Hey guys, Ive been collecting since '07 when the 25th Anny first came out. At first, I said to myself "Im just going to get everything with a 25th logo on it, once Hasbro removes the logo, Im done". Well here we are going into '09 and Im still chasing everything Hasbro is dishing out at us. So far Im up to date except for wave 12, the TRU CG & Greenshirt packs & the last 3 TRU SROs.
Thing is, Im running out of room. And spending too much on CPs, Singles, Vehicles, Exclusives etc etc... I dont know how to quit though. With wave 13 I found myself entering into the Resolute line which Im not sure I want to collect, even though Im very impressed with the new sculpts they have. Where should I draw the line? Should I just stick to the single carded stuff and forget about the rest? You can always just gift your stash to me...that'll make room. |

I only buy what I like, and I try not to get more than one of each character. I've had ok luck here selling off the extras from multipacks and such (still only have 1 Duke). I'm also an opener. Even still, space is an issue, as well as cost. I'm kinda glad it looks like I 'll be getting somewhat of a break with Resolute and the movie.

First, you have to keep yourself from being a completist, you don't need every figure. I am cutting back my Joe purchases quite a bit with Waves 12 & 13 (only getting 3 total figures from these 2 waves), and I am also skipping quite a few comic packs. If you already have a character, you don't need every other version of it. Waiting to purchase some figures can also result in just getting a different, possibly better version later on.
I skipped the Duke/Red Star and SE/Hard Master packs as I'm not that worried about having the unique character that comes in each. I'm not getting the CC/Tripwire pack because I will just get Tripwire with the element that I want for the Mass device and save a few dollars by not getting yet another CC. Skipping the CC/Gung Ho and RNR/Deep Six packs since I have all those characters already. I decided I don't need to get the Resolute figures which will save me a bit of money. As the line goes on I'm finding it easier and easier to skip various figures and just getting the ones I really want. |

I've been a collector (mostly Star Wars, did the Toybiz Lord of the Rings line, and then GIJOE after the TRU ARAH Blueshirt 6-packs) since the late 1990's. I was a completist for a while. 10 years of collecting experience has given me this wisdom: Only buy what you want. Don't tell yourself you have to have a complete set. You then put yourself at the mercy of the company and whatever crap they choose to make.

I save money by cutting out expenses like food, and clothing for my children. and when I run out of room I just kick one of the kids out and take there room. It's a simple solution!
