Hey guys, so up until this point have have strictly been a vintage o-ring collector 82-94. I've just about completed the run and have been looking into new areas to collect. I've never been too interested in the modern sculpts but I if I were to buy a couple to see if I like them, any recommendations as to what my first modern figure(s) should be?
Basically just want to know what are the coolest ones that might get me into the modern stuff. I've been looking a bit, and the POC Blowtorch looks cool, but I haven't picked it or any up yet. |

It was either Sgt. Stone or green vest Heavy Duty from Rise of Cobra.
I liked Lost and Mr. Eko was my favorite character. I thought the idea of having a figure of Brendan Frasier was hilarious. I don't remember which I got first, probably Heavy Duty. Who would have thought these two figures would lead to a love affair with everything Joe? |

I think that Low Light is probably the best figure that has been made in the ME style. Pretty much all of the classic-inspired 30th Anniversary figures were awesome. The "Ultimate" Snake Eyes is great. All of those can be kind of pricey to track down now though, so if you want something kind of cheep to get your feet wet, the Retaliation three packs are a good value and have some pretty cool figures. The only downside to them is that they don't have as much of the really great gear some of the best PoC/30th figures come with.

Good choices there Roland. I've got pretty decent armies of Eels, Snow Serpents, and BATs and I love them all. I wish I could get more of those Alley Vipers too, but man did they shoot up in price.

Depends on what you're after.
For solid, faithful updates of ARAH figures: - B.A.T. (Hall of Heroes) -- Really is a great figure. - Battle Armor Cobra Commander (single card) - Beachhead (comic pack or Hall of Heroes) - Croc Master (25th) - Eel (25th) - Lifeline (30th) - Airtight (30th) - Sci-Fi (30th) - Spirit (25th) -- Some don't like the head sculpt, but I think he's perfect - Tunnel Rat (comic pack or RoC pack) -- Same as Spirit re: head sculpt I think LowLight is good, but if you're just dabbling in modern figures, you might get frustrated by him because of all the kibble and gear. If you like later-era ARAH, then the Range Viper and Alley Viper from the 7-pack are really great figures. Cartoon-figure wish fulfillment? - Cobra Commander (Best of 80s DVD set) -- Finally, a proper chrome dome! - Destro (DVD pack) - Lady Jaye (5-pack) - Storm Shadow (Hall of Heroes) - Wild Bill (comic pack) -- People diss this mold, but it's absolutely awesome to have this guy in Sunbow colors. Comic-figure wish fulfillment? - Arctic Snake Eyes (25th) -- The necklace alone makes him worth the price. |

pig iron grenadier and ero thanks for the suggestions! Snow Serpent, BAT, Viper, Airtight and Sci-Fi might be the winners.
