Anyway. I'll rehash what I have stated in high detail in a couple of the other threads on this topic.
The numbers are cavity numbers. (the tooling, known to most as the mold, generally has several cavities in them for each part that is being produced. In this case there are 2 cavities. This number is for the QA process at the factory. If there are higher amounts of rejects from one cavity, then the mold tech can quickly isolate the problem and correct it. (I could go into waaaaaaay more detail but I won't unless asked)
Everytime the mold opens, closes and is filled, 2 parts are created. There should be no cavity that is more 'rare' than the other. This is the most nit picking of nit picking for trying to create a 'variant'.
(and yes, some people are going to consider this a variant no matter what...)
I can also tell you that not all cavity identifying marks are numbers. Sometimes they are letters, dots or squares... or whatever the hell they want to put on it.
It is purely part of the manufacturing process to help to ensure a quality product. Not to help decide which wave it goes in, not to be a variant, not to do anything other than help the press operator, the mold tech and the QA people. That is all.

And I should probably list my credentials...
Spent roughly 5 years working in 2 injection molding plants as either a press operator, a material handler or a trainer.
One factory was a single shot injection mold facility.
One was a multishot facility. (in case anyone cares)
One of them also had a tooling shop.
And yes. I'm glad I don't work there anymore.

open them all, i did, i have 10 '2' and 4 '1', i have been hunting for 2 weeks so the '2' is not that rare. the real value of these toys is when you open them and line them up in your army, free them all!!! making a couple bucks off of them is not worth the trouble folks, we're not talking about blocks of gold here.
