25th figures have proven to me that I'm actually addicted to joes, honestly I just can't walk away from any I don't have. Most of them I'm NOT really happy with because they are a bit to tall to work with my vintage joes, and there is such thing as too much articulation. I would be much happier if they would meet vintage collectors half way and shrink them a bit. I prefer vintage style molds, but with that said I still can't walk away from them in the stores. Even some of the dollar store re-packs are cool in my opinion. I just can't stop buying even though the era has changed. My dollar store night force sand viper army is just proof that joes are a sickness. However I can't get enough of the vehicles. To be able to army build firebats and trubble bubbles for an affordable price is way cool. The desert striker is a thing of beauty too.

I was going to start reaccquiring vintage Joe's, but once the 25th line started, I got rid of them(except for the Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow's). They were good back in the day, but those days are long gone.

i like both but i like my vintage better. they mean alot more to me than the 25th line. I mean they are the reason I started collecting in the 1st place. The 25th line is just a bounes and they look cool. But if it was not for the vintage line we would have never gotten this 25th line.

I am buying some of the vintage vehicles but they don't always work.

They're two entirely different toylines. The vintage joes have superior characteristics and the 25th have superior characteristics.
The vintage are actually 3 3/4 inch figures, are generally the same and don't have two ugly articulation points (head and chest) The 25th have an increased range of articulation and removable gear. But on the whole, Vintage have far fewer cripling problems than 25th (I think there about 12 figures between 1982 and 1984 that couldn't sit down or move their elbows the full range)

Yeah, the old vintage stuff is blah and outdated. Probably not worth anything either. I think you should just give the stuff away to charity.

There's a huge difference with a figure that you bought only to display and one that you took to the pool, sandbox, or out in the snow and went on countless adventures with. |

Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to the boards and not sure if this topic has come up yet... if so I apologize;
I'm starting to develop a big enough collection of 25th anniversary figs that original joes have become outmoded, outdated and obsolete. When Star Wars relaunched in 95 or so the same thing happened. I used to love playing with my 70's and 80's figs. For a while I had the 2 mixed in scenes. Then there just came a point where the old ones held no more value to me. They looked cheap and didn't work. I've reached that with the 25th line. I look at all my org figs and they just seem rather childish now. Am I the only one? Personally, I prefer to have the vintage 80s figures posing in vehicles, and let the 25th figures stand alone with their accesories. For example, Frostbite and Sonic Fighter 1LT Falcon fit perfectly into the Snow Cat cockpit. I cannot imagine trying to fit 25th Snow Job and 25th Arctic Snake Eyes into the Snow Cat cockpit. |
