I no particular order:
Baroness-some say she is the worst, but this figure surprised me. I don't mind the hindered hip mobility. Sculpt is far superior to previous attempts at Baroness, Arm articulation is good, the different paint coats are GREAT as well as the color choices(more than meets the eye up close). Weaponry is good and overall not much to complain about. I'm glad to have a proportional Baroness much better than the other versions. Firefly-All around a great figure and improves so much compared to the original. Similar to how anniversary Storm Shadow topples the original 84 version. Zartan-Solid figure all around. Good hip mobility, great head sculpt. Feels more solid than some of the earlier wave figures. Only complaint I have is that his backpack will not stay closed on mine. V2 Snake Eyes-Worried about it at first because it was a slight retool, feelings totally changed after opening it. Head sculpt is not only accurate but well executed, and much better than the prototype first shown in mastercollector earlier this year. Sword can stash between the bandolier, the grey looks good(semi cartoon/comic accurate), and a figure hard to put down. This figure does everything the 2005 VVV figure was hyped up to do(the 05 VVV was so overhyped and ultimately came up short). V2 Storm Shadow-Hooded Storm Shadow always looked better than the non hooded Storm Shadow to me. This costume resembles a combination of the 88 version, as well as the America's Elite version drawn by Steffano Casselli. I only wish it was a bit more accurate to the 88 as well as having a compound Crossbow and claws. v1 Storm Shadow-quite possibly the best figure thus far in the line, for completely outdoing the original figure in every respect. As much as people get tired of Stormy and Snakes, there isn't many people that say this is a bad figure. V1 Cobra Commander-comic homage is great for the helmet, though not too secure. The fist is nice, I only wish he had the dark blue of the hooded version. Red Ninja-Fans wanted this back in the day, and never got him(easily at least). Solid troop builder based on a fan favorite mold. Paint job is well executed and the addition of a new headsculpt, weapon, and fact that its a troop builder add incentive for purchase. Speaking of which I feel like buying more(and I don't really troop build, this figure is good enough to me to buy multiples). Stalker-Crisp paint job, one of my favorite characters(I have the green one). Don't really care that he has a WWII weapon, it looks like the original so its okay for me. Only thing I don't like, is that mine has the "oh no you didn't" look on his face(due to the way his eyes were painted). Cobra Trooper-This guy is supposed to be cannon fodder but for a generic trooper this is fun to play with. The paint job is done very well and pleasing to the eye. Just wish he had hair and an easier time gripping the gun as well as moving the hips. |

From what i have (gonna stick to a top 5):
#1. Beachhead ~ Rocks on every conceivable level. Looks every par the bad@$$ ranger special forces trooper. (i haven't got Firefly yet so I'd imagine he's as good) #2. Red Ninja ~ flippin' awesome redeco/sculpt. I ALWAYS wanted one of these guys when i was a kid, and was stoked they did him ~ the new weapon was nice, but it would have been even nicer if they'd have included all the gear from "Silent interlude" that the 3 red ninjas had #3. Hooded Cobra Commander. Perfect if a tad skinny. I like his darker blue much more than Armored CCs light blue. looks more serious and terrorist-y. #4. Airbourne Trooper. So dang cool, great use of the comic book helmets, and very nice of Hasbro to go to the trouble of making him versatile enough to be either an officer or the airborne #5. Commando Snake Eyes (soon to be replaced by wave 5 SE) looks so much more serious than the 80s versions. if Wave 5 was out i suspect Flash and Snow-Job would push some of these guys down a few spots. I have no particular sympathy for Flash, but the sculpt is out of this world and Snow-Job was my first Joe and looks absolutely top-notch. only stinker i've bough is the Baroness, she's just made of fail. and "dragon" SS from the legions pack should have been a red ninja.

Swafus's Top ten (so far)
10. Stinger Driver 09. Storm Shadow V2 08. Cobra Trooper 07. Buzzer 06. Zartan 05. Snake-Eyes (v2 Ninja Commando) 04. Storm Shadow (V1 Cobra Ninja) 03. Beach-Head 02. Stalker 01. Firefly ....and the worst, while we're ranking: 1. Roadblock (arms and hands are completely useless!) 2. Baroness (ridiculous posture on this one) 3. Lady Jaye (mine has a lazy eye and no wrist articulation = no fun) 4. Storm Shadow {legions} (unattractive reminder of why the 25th line is far superior to VvsV) 5. Gung-Ho (great design and attention to detail, the arms and hands are just a mess) 6. Duke (great design, the arms and hands killed this figure for me) 7. Shipwreck (a great homage to the original, closed fists are just a bad idea IMO) 8. Destro (a great homage to the original, closed fist and guns that don't fit in hand hurt this one) 9. Scarlett (hands are huge on this lil philly and she almost has the baroness slouch-thing going on) 10. Serpentor (most ornate frumpy guy ever!) |

10- Stalker: i really like the way Hasbro used the same concept as they did in 82/83
9- Dreadnoks: Dreadnoks are cool. 8- Cobra Officer/Troopers: I just like them 7- The Ninjas/Storm Shadow: Storm Shadow a good guy by nature a bad guy by choice. Nnjas are cool. 6- Firefly/Gung-Ho: I liked the thought of having a guy that was like a Ninja but blew things up. I like the Marines. 5- Zartan: The color change aspect is the coolest feature and he had a mask. 4- Destro: I think the head made this guy likable to me. 3- Hooded Cobra Commander: The hood the color of his outfit awesome 2- Snake-Eyes v-2: I got this figure as a child but i wanted him so bad, I bought him about 3 years ago for the 1st time and I like this one as much as the first. 1- Snake-Eyes v-1: This as my first figure as a child With all the guys I listed above I liked as a child I still like them now and I think Hasbro did an alright job bringing them into the 21 century. 10. Stalker - I almost gave this spot to Red Ninja, but Stalker is just too perfect to be left out of a top ten list.
9. Buzzer 8. Firefly 7. Cobra Air Trooper 6. Cobra Legions Trooper - Comic-inspired Troopers? Gimme, gimme, gimme. My only complaint is that these aren't available as singles or in five-packs of just Troopers. 5. Destro 4. Cobra Commander (hooded) 3. Storm Shadow v1 2. Snake-Eyes v2 - The '85 version was my favorite as a kid, and this improved on the design in every way. 1. Zartan - Easily my favorite G.I. Joe figure of all time. |
