Wave 10-13 all came out within 2 months of each other. At this rate, we'll be seeing 14-15 before Feb. of next year. Could Hasbro be holding off releasing all the gi joes at once for next year before the movie?
Tonight I was at Target and I was talking to this Star Wars/gijoe collector and he told me, "George Lucas has issued a mortorium on Star Wars, and that means that the market is going to be flooded with Gi joes". Now, I don't know if he was telling the truth or not. Especially with the Star Wars live action series coming out in 2010. But one thing is clear, eventually all collecting bubbles burst and figures become quite common. The scalpers are lucky if they can get 8 or more for that Trakker now. But seeing how Hasbro has been only releasing revision cases. I can't help but think we are going to see more figures next year. The shelves will be filled with joes of all sorts. But then I could be wrong. Last edited by Zoltron; 11-30-2008 at 03:25 AM.. Reason: needed to specify what |

The distribution is already lightyears ahead of where it was at as recent as this summer. HTS at one point was 3 pages of sold out items, and now there are several pages with a pretty large selection of in stock items. Wal-Mart, TRU, and Target (to a lesser extent in my neighborhood) have all done a much better job of keeping them in stock, even if they are mostly revision cases. I'm expecting a big year for GI Joe next year. I just hope the quality of the future waves improve over what we've been getting as of late.

However, with Alley Viper wave 15. I will be pre ordering that once I see it. But who knows, the more figures at the stores the less scalpers. So I'm not worried. |

looking back only a year ago I can say that it's definitely improved.
A year ago you were lucky if they had the hooded cobra commander on the pegs. Now? You name it I lay bets I can find it at even the newest ones. The only pieces I've found I've had a hard time locating are the latest DVD, comic and vehicle packs. However I chalk that more up to the earlier product not moving and thereby holding the newer stuff back. |

I have never had any real problems finding Gi Joes. Trying to find new Star Wars figures in 2003 now that was a freaking head ache. The only figure that has left me searching has been the B.A.T. I have 3 of them not and I have not been as ruthless as a hunter as I used to be.

I can go about any major retail outlet and find some GI Joe single figures without a problem, the complaint is new product, which is kind of a result of Hasbro helping to offset the utter lack of GI Joe product at all with revision cases. It may not be what you WANT, but there IS GI Joe product available. And in regards to the rather brisk release schedule: Keep in mind toys in general tend to be "back heavy", in that a majority of releases tend to appear around Christmas, because that is when this stuff sells. GI Joe in particular had issues with retailers in the last retail run because while it sold, it only sold really well at Christmas, and retailers wanted something with solid sales ALL Year around. While waves 10-13 have all been released in short order, that WILL change at the first of the year, and we may well be lucky to see another assortment at all until the end of January if not February.

Definitely better distribution/supply this year over last IMO ... now when I walk into stores I at least see something on the racks, instead of empty pegs.
