Okay, so I picked up the Best of the 80's Joe DVD figure set from Toy Rocket recently, and I just wanted to comment on something. The silver mask Cobra Commander and the Cobra Paratrooper from this set are the absolute best of either figure that we've seen yet! Lest I mention Alpine of course, who looks fantastic, but the thing that really got me most about this set are the aforementioned two figures. The cobra trooper has a nazi style bucket helmet which just looks 10000000 times better than the swooped back and easily lost (because they fall off when you simply look at them) cobra helmets that we've seen thus far. Also, the chrome plated-like helmet on CC is absolute fantastic!
Finally I can properly re-enact the scene from one of my favorite Marvel Comics GI Joe issues, where Cobra Commander attempts to escape from Joe custody using a glider, and gets tackled by Roadblock! Oh, and Storm Shadow shows up to complete the rescue, and ends up getting knocked out by R.B. as well. Of course any Joe fan worth his/her salt already knows the plot. Anyway, I can't recommend this DVD figure set highly enough, for these two figures alone if for no other reason!! |

My sincere hope is that the Resolute Cobra Troopers and Cobra Commander in Wave 13 use these headsculpts and helmets. I more happy that battle helmet CC finally has a proportionally correct head than the fact that the DVD set is chrome, so if the carded one is painted silver I won't complain. I just wish they had also made Destro's new head sculpt about 25%-33% bigger, but that doesn't look to be the case from the comic pack.

How come in the cartoon, Storm Shadow who is supposed to be a bad ass ninja always got his ass kicked. I hadn't seen these cartoons since the 80's and just started watching them with my boys. Spirit beat his ass. Then Quick Kick, and now the story of the rhyming Chef RB knocking him out. What's up with that? I don't remeber him sucking that bad, but now.....is he really that great?

No Cobra ever came off as particularly tough or brilliant in the cartoon, although Cobra usually cleaned up in any situation where their opponent was someone other than the Joes.

It was Cartoons for kids...they couldn't let the bad guy win for fear of sending the wrong message I guess...But we all know Stormy would have come out on top 80% of the Time...

Yeah I want this set as it is the only one I do not have.I have been looking everywhere for it and it can't be found. This is obviously a very popular dvd pack as the others are warming shelves everywhere.I cannot even find this(for a reasonable price) online lol.I hope the rage wears off soon and I find one.Anyone know of a reliable toy site that has these in stock for a reasonable price?
